I have two different size tables that I will be using at our reception. I am going to be making table runners though for them and have no idea how long these should be.
Our tables are 30 in high. The smaller is 36 in wide and the other is 48 in wide.
I might sound stupid asking but I just don’t get these things.

I think it depends on whether or not there is something decorative on the end (a monogram or ruffled end?) or if you want them to hang to the floor.
I would confirm first with your tablecloth supplier how long their tablecloths with be. If theirs will hang to the floor or if they will only hang over a foot or two? I say this because I did not specify with my supplier… I only said how big our tables were and assumed they would have them hang at least a couple feet over on the edges. I had sewn my own runners… with a monogrammed and ruffled ends to hang just a foot off the ends and BHAM! when I got to the venue our tablecloths only hung a couple inches over the sides of the table! I think the tables ended up looking awkward because my runners hung lower than the cloths… so – learn from my lesson!
