So I just had an interview for a vet tech position. I am really REALLY wanting to get out my current job and this place sounds like a perfect fit for me. I think the interview went well but I didn’t ask for any kind of timeline when I would hear back. They said they were talking to a few different people and would “let me know.” The job won’t be starting until February so it’s kind of a unique situation.
Normally I’d wait a week to contact them, but with the job starting so far away, not getting a timeline during the interview, and Christmas in the mix, how long should I wait to contact them?

I would wait until after the holidays. So sometime in early January. Fiance had a similar situation with his current job. He started part time in March and went full time with them in June (finishing teaching job at the same time). He interviewed though in early December, so he contacted them after the new year and just checked in, they said they would let him know by the following week and they did – obviously he got the job.
I think this time of year so many people are out of the office already or busy preparing to be for the holidays.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. But I didn’t know whether to wait until the new year was over or after Christmas was over. I want to make sure they know I want it!

Have you sent your thank you email? I know some people prefer sending out physical thank you cards in the mail but I think an email is the simplest way to thank the interviewer for their time, mention some things you talked about during the interview, reiterate your interest in the position, and also ask about a timeline.

No I didn’t send one and now it seems like too late, like I’d only be sucking up or pressuring them…. :/
