We got married in July, too. We had a sneak peek of photos up that night, and then the rest were finished within two months. Though I don’t think it’s odd to take around three months or so…in other words, I personally think you deserve your photos right around now. 🙂

It too me like 3 months to get my wedding photos back.  That is on the long side, but I knew that would be the wait when I booked him.

I think it totally depends on your contract and what your photographer says. Ours were upfront and told us that they take 2-3 months to fully edit all wedding pictures. And even though the wait is kind of torture, it is so worth it. Their work is amazing, and you can tell that they really take their time editing everything to perfection.

@Catherine: This is a tough one. It really all depends on your photographers, and it’s important to have that outlined in the contract because without it they don’t have to get them to you in any timeframe really.

Sometimes it can be misleading to read about other bees getting their photos back in 2-4 weeks. Every photographer approaches post-production differently, and every photographer has a different workload. Some folks who got their photos back in 2 weeks worked with a photog who is part time, or who doesn’t do much editing at all. Others wait 5-6 months because they booked a very popular photographer who shoots 25-30+ weddings a year. Some photographers outsource their editing to editing companies or assistants so they’re able to have a fast turnaround and others don’t do that so they’re putting in the 50-60 hours of editing themselves for your wedding and every other wedding they’re shooting. I think 3-4 months isn’t unreasonable, but I can understand your frustration, especially since it doesnt seem like something you talked with your photographer about before the wedding.

I would try to get some sort of firm number from them in terms of how many more weeks, just so it holds them to it and also gives you some kind of recourse if they say 3 more weeks and it ends up being 3 more months. As of right now they could take a year and not be in violation of their contract. “Fall” is pretty darn vague.

This question is asked very often, and there is no right or wrong answer.  I would say an average is 4 to 8 weeks, but it’s usually something that is discussed in your contract prior to booking.  Once the photographer is late, they are late, and then your best interest is to communicate with them as often as possible to get updates on the status and try to mutually figure out a plan so you get your photo’s in a timely fashion.

We were married in the beginning of July and didn’t get them back until the very end of september. I remember how hard it was to wait to see them. However, ours were definitely worth the wait!

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you have proofs soon!!
