I want to do a picture slide show set to music and am wondering how long it should last? I have two songs picked out to play during the slide show but that will total about 8 minutes. Is that too long? Should I stick to one song?

I think two songs (8 mins) is the perfect length of time! Any longer and guests may start to get antsy…

When I was wondering this, my search told me that about 3-5 mins is recommended.
However, we played a slideshow in the background during our first dance, and since our song was 6:30 minutes long, our guests were a lot more entertained than they would’ve been just watching us sway back and forth.
But I think 8 minutes is on the long side if you’re showing it by itself. However, it might be fine if you pick funny pictures or, better yet, try to include each of your guests in at least one picture.

I haven’t even researched this… But of all the weddings I have been to that had a slide show, they were a lot longer in duration than what you guys have just mentioned!
Two weddings, stand out in my mind. Both were a huge… ok… EPIC montage from birth till wedding day of the bride & groom.
I did get a little ansy as the timing crept into the thirty minute mark…

Yeah, I would agree… 5-6 minutes would be ideal unless the pics include guests or are very funny… Could you cut each song in half, or at least delete an extra chorus or something? You mentioned the length of your songs, but how many photos do you have? That would factor in, too. If you have extra pics to include, you could keep the slide show running or on a smaller screen/laptop while the events continue!
