Alright, so i feel a little silly posting this but here i go anyways, I went off BC last month and we have been using condoms. (i was on the birthcontrol patch for 6 years) Well now aunt flow is a week late….?? What gives, i have had 3 days of slight brown spotting but no sign of a real period which is VERY unlike my body which was always on time with the BC. I was to start charting… kind of hard not to if the silly period refuses to come.
How long did it take for your period to return after stopping Birth Control?

My period took 17 months to return after bc. Mine is a relatively unusual case, but it can happen. What were your cycles like prior to bc? Mine were always irregular. Turned out for me that my hormones had been balancing on an edge and the bc threw them right off the edge into a tizzy. I have PCOS though. ๐
Just keep in mind that it can take 6 months to a year for your body to regulate after bc. Believe me, I know how hard it is to be patient, but give your body some time.

Mine took 9 weeks. I got my Implanon implant taken out at the beginning of December 2011 and didn’t see AF until late February. Give your body some time to regulate itself. You will see AF eventually, and hopefully sooner rather than later!

I stopped BC last Aug and had a withdrawl bleed about a week later. It was then about 40 days until my AF showed, and my cycles just kept getting longer.
Once you get off BC, it can take a while for your body to regulate, even if you were regular before BC.
Keep in mind that a 28 day cycle might be considered “average” but I don’t think you’ll find it “normal”. Your cycle might be a bit longer.
Spotting is usually a good sign, so you can just wait for her to show, or take an HPT just to set your mind at ease (if you are worried).

Thanks ladies for your responses, i was very regular when i started so hopefully she shows up sometime soon, its annoying having to wear panty liners for the small amount of spotting i have.
@anotherbee: I dont think there is much to be worried about, we were using condoms and i dont have any ‘symptoms’ however if something changes perhaps i will… you just never know! ๐

I just want to say that I feel your pain! I came off of hormonal BC last month and I am currently on day 47 of my first “cycle”… waiting for AF to arrive! So far there are no signs that she’s going to show up. I was on BC for 15+ years and as far as I remember I was regular when I started. I started charting my BBT around cycle day 40 because I was getting impatient and thought maybe it would help me SEE something… I’ve had a temp rise since then but I’m not sure I trust it yet. Good luck! Hope AF shows up soon for you!
EDIT: I also wanted to mention that your body was always on time while on BC because the hormones were controlling it. If you left the patch off for a week the lack of hormones induced an “AF” (I’m guessing that’s how the patch works vs the placibo pills of the BC pill).

Everyone’s different. My first cycle off BCP was 34 days, and this past (2nd cycle) lasted 36 days; and when my period came, it has been pretty light with minimal cramping. I used to have heavy, long periods before the pill, so I think my body’s still sorting itself out. Just know that its normal for your cycles to be out of whack the first few months, although I know it’s hard to wait around!

SO glad you posted!!! I’m in the same boat. I’ve been patiently waiting for my period to show up…it’s been a month now and no sign. I have been crampy on and off but no period.. Ugh, I just want it to show up! I WANT TO GET PREGNANT!
It seems like many of you were around the 30-40 day mark.. hpefully I don’t have to wait 17 weeks!!!!!

I just posted about this too haha. I’m still a week out, so IDK yet if my period will stick to 28 days. I’ll let you know how my experience goes.
