@michelejosephine:  I tried on at least 20 dresses at 4 different places, but I wanted it that way. I took my time. I stopped searching for that moment. So, when i thought I had found the dress, I did what any logical person would do – I didn’t buy it, I went home and tried on a few more. My mind kept going back to that dress, and I ended up getting it… I didn’t regret it at all!

Oh you will find it! dont worry. I tried on a ton of dresses also. But i had a really low budget so it was super hard for me to find a dress i loved, I just settled on one that I liked. I never got that “feeling” in any of the dresses i tried on. But you have plenty of time to find one, just keep researching.

Don’t be discouraged!  I felt like you did for quite awhile, and it is frustrating.  But, you have plenty of time!  Personally, it took me a long time to find my dress (6 months), BUT I didn’t try on dresses all that time…I kept researching dresses to find what I wanted, went to several stores to try on different styles (not just what I was pretty sure I wanted)…and I did find my dress!  And it’s almost exactly what I had pictured in my mind.  Like you, I knew what I wanted, but couldn’t seem to find it anywhere.  So, keep looking online, call around, and you WILL find it.  I didn’t cry when I found mine, but I knew it was finally the one!  🙂  Glad you found a store that will order samples, too.  Good luck!  Keep us posted?

I had a similar dress journey.  I went to 4 bridal boutiques and tried on what seemed like a million dresses … still NOTHING … no special feeling … no dress that really stood out among the others.  I started to get discouraged seeing that my other engaged friends found their dresses so quickly.  I thought to myself “Maybe it’s just not meant to be right now, I still have plenty of time to keep looking” so I took a break from dress shopping.  On a random weekday my mom and I decided to go to another bridal boutique, in the car she said “I have a feeling your going to find the dress tonight”.  I didn’t want to get dissapointed again so I just went in with an open mind and guess what … she was right … I found *the dress* that night.  When I looked in the mirror I thought “wow I look like a bride” and slipped into the other dress options.  At the end I tried on my favorites and before I tried on that same dress again my mom suggested I try it on with a mermaid slip (aka petticoat) to give the bottom of the dress a fuller effect.  The bridal consultant tied me up and placed the veil on my head.  As soon as I looked in the mirror and examined myself … the tears came.  I never knew I would get so emotional over a dress … that’s how I knew it was the one.  There is a dress out there for you, you just haven’t found it yet!  I suggest taking a little break and start dress shopping again.

Just FYI – When I did find my dress it was just me and my mom.  When I went looking all the other times I brought a few friends.  I found it to be a more enjoyable experience without the whole entourage.  I think it allowed me to really examine the dress without hearing everyone’s opinions in the background.

@michelejosephine:  Check Priscilla of Boston 4512. It is a full skirt not a ballgown but maybe you will like it. That is what I bought.

I found my dress at the first dress shopping experience. I have looked online high and low prior to that. I was open to all options.  Everyone who came with me to try on dresses picked a dress that they liked. I picked one dress and it was the dress I ended up buying. I saw it on the rack and just knew.  My consultant did pick a dress that was almost equal to my pick. I even thought I had dress regret for the first few days after purchasing it, but I knew deep down that was my own indecisiveness. I did not cry when I tried my dress on–I am usually overly emotioanl, but prior to me trying it on another bride did. When I went to the back dressing room and saw her in it, I had  envy lol. Keep your head up–make a list of things you do want in a gown. I always wanted 1) a tulle dress and 2) a pink dress.

Don’t give up! You have plenty of time to find the right dress and it is out there. Just keep an open mind and don’t try to limit yourself too much if you are having trouble deciding.

I spent four to five months shopping and tried on well over 100+ dresses. In the end the dress I got was totally different than anything I thought I wanted and had tried on.
