I miscarried a week ago Saturday ( I was a little over 5 wks) and I am still feeling like crap. Bleeding and cramping although I am not waking up at night in pain which is a plus. Just wanting to hear experiences of others and see if this is normal or if I should press my Dr. on the issue. I am ready to feel like myself again =/

It can take a while, and since you were fairly early, you could be experiencing an actual period, but don’t hesitate to ask your doctor if you’re concerned.
((hugs)) to you and your family.

It took me about 2 weeks for hormones to calm down but it took a few months before I could comfortably have sex again.

@mixtapehearts: I’m so sorry dear =( Physically, I’d say it took about 6 or 7 days for me to stop bleeding, but my docto told me to expect anywhere from 10-15 days. The cramping continued the whole time I bled, but died down near the end. I would say that if you’re still have intense cramping, I would call your doctor and tell him. The worst thing they can do is tell you that it’s normal, right?

@mixtapehearts: I started bleeding on a Saturday, saw doctor on the Monday after. She said if I didn’t stop bleeding by Wednesday then I need an ultrasound. I got the ultrasound on a Friday, then stopped bleeding on Satuday. I think a lot of it depends on how long your normal periods are, mine are usually not more than three days.
I’m so sorry for your loss =(

@mixtapehearts: First, I just want to say that I’m so sorry for your loss. PM me if you need anything…seriously!
I feel like I was definitely not a normal case. I had a missed miscarriage, so I had to have a D&C to clear everything out. I had that on a Friday, and I bled heavily for at least 2 weeks. I then spotted for a full month after the heavy bleeding. So almost a month and a half of straight bleeding. My doc said that it was normal and some women bleed longer than others. The cramping stopped about a week after my procedure.
I hope you start to feel better soon so that you can start healing emotionally too!

I bled for about 12 days. The really horrible waves of cramps/clotty type of bleeding was over after the first week. I think it took a few weeks longer to get my hormones back to normal though. I was a complete mess. I’m so sorry for your loss 🙁

I am so sorry for your loss! It took about 8 days for me to stop bleeding. For me the cramping was off and on, but more intense in the beginning. My hormones were a mess for at least a couple weeks.

@inspiredcreations: I’m sure you were trying to be helpful, but telling someone who saw a heartbeat that they are experencing a period isn’t exactly kind.
Thanks ladies. My RE seems to be laid back about it, but I feel like hell. I might bug him again if I still feel so cruddy on Friday. And yes aside from pain, total hormonal overload, I think I cried at a Cheerios commerical the other day LOL.

@mixtapehearts: I have no advice and haven’t gone through this, but just wanted to give big virtual hugs and am sending positive vibes your way. So sorry you’re going through this 🙁

@mixtapehearts: I’m so sorry about your loss. Like others have said it varies with each person. My mc started on a Monday and I had heavier bleeding with clotting for 2 days. Then it was light but continued for a few weeks. I eventually had a methotrexate shot bc it was discovered I had an ectopic pg. I bled about a week after that. Not heavy though.
If you are unsure at all about what is happening don’t hesitate to let your doctor know. It is an emotional roller coaster. Make sure you take care of you. Again I am so sorry.

@mixtapehearts: Hi, I am so very sorry to hear the sad news and so sorry for your loss. Been there – I’ve had two, both were at around 9 weeks. I had D&E’s each time. It wouldn’t hurt to call your doctor’s office just to be sure your symptoms are normal. ((HUGS!!))
