HoyaTerpDC: Is there anything in your contract? Our engagement photos took about a week and a half (and our photographer apologized for taking so long – he says it usually takes him about a week), but there was a 2 week deadline in our contract for engagement photos.

Ours was about a month? We did ours mid-september and got our photos back learly november-ish. I know our photographers were slowed down a bit because they were opening a studio/store at the time.

HoyaTerpDC: They shouldn’t take that long… Maybe a month? Month and a half tops? Is photography her primary job?

HoyaTerpDC: As a photographer, I normally take anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on the type and length of the shoot. 2.5 hours is a long time, how many photos did she say she is including? I also take longer if my daughter has been sick, etc, but I always let clients know.

Family stuff happens, and especially since you hit that huge, chaotic few week stretch of the Holidays, I would give her another week before you send her anything. When/if you have to I would just casually say “I hope that all is well, I’m so excited to see the rest of your beautiful work for us!”

If you are that anxious about receiving your photos, I’d email the photographer a lighthearted message just asking for the ETA. No harm in that! But also keep in mind that Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years all happened during this two month window. And photographers need time off too.
