don’t register too early cuz some things will no longer be sold by the store. Just make sure you are finished registering BEFORE shower invites (or wedding invites) go out.

So, start like 4-6 months before the wedding.

We (I) registered probably a couple months after we got engaged (13 month long engagement), but I didn’t really advertise it or anything. Eventually I put the info on our wedding website.

We just registered last weekend, which I even think is a bit early. We are about 7.5 months out. We are going to be REALLY busy starting in September (with work and grad school) so we wanted to get it out of the way. We haven’t really “advertised” it. It’s on our wedding website, but our Save-The-Date Cards haven’t gone out yet, so no one knows about it. We just got our Save-The-Date Cards in the mail today actually. 🙂

Oh, and we’ve been engaged for almost 6 months. Oh, and it’s not as fun as it looks. I thought it would be super fun and, it was sort of fun. I was kind of overwhelmed!

I would begin registering about 6 months out.  As much as you want to run around with the “zapper” now, you’ll want to be cautious because a lot of stores change inventories.  For now, you can do some “window shopping” and get some ideas.  Enjoy!

I was excited as well but my mom made me wait until the week that invites for my first shower came out. She told me to wait bc stores change their inventory and such. I was like mom thats so dumb dont worry it will be fine… Well Iwaited anyways and the week before I went to register I went to one of the same stores I was registering at to get a friends bridal shower gift… Bad news was I had a hell of a time finding some of the stuff because they were going through inventory change so some of the things that she registered for went on clarence and sold out. Turns out my mom was right after all…. As always lol. So my advice would be to not do it to soon before your first shower or whatever you need to register for, and tweek the registry in between showers and in between your last shower and the actual wedding if things do change inventory wise at your particular store.

We began registering right after we got engaged, but that is because our engagement is only going to be 8 months long. I really think it depends on how long of an engagement you’re planning to have and where you’re registering. The biggest issue with registering very far in advance is things going out of stock.
