You’ll definitely see results with Jillian – I lost 30 lbs before the wedding doing her workouts, and though I gained some back afterward, I’m back on the horse and losing again! Especially if you’re combining with Pilates Reformer, you’ll see toning/tightening, though I’d give it a few weeks to see the results. Make sure you’re drinking a ton of water, like 100oz per day, to flush out your body. Good luck!

I think everyone is a lil different.  I lost about 30 lbs a few years ago.  I remember noticing the number on the scale drop relatively quickly (I lost it all between Feb-June) but I didn’t really see drastic changes in my muscle tone for awhile.  It is frustrating sometimes when you’re putting in so much energy/effort and not seeing fast results.  But eventually I noticed a shift, I started seeing tone and I was at my ideal weight/look.  It just takes a lot of patience, and I think your diet obviously plays a really big role.  I never realized how important eating the right foods to promote toning mattered until then.  I kinda just thought- work out, eat healthy, the end.  Nope!  The maintenance of it all is what I have a hard time with.

I think the reward system works for motivation. It doesn’t even have to be a big reward – for some of my minigoals, I picked something as simple as a pedicure! I also like to see my progress on paper or in print, like on the myfitnesspal website or app. I think it might take you a while to see results yourself in the mirror, but taking pics along the way is a GREAT way to gauge what you’ve done!

My motivation is usually pretty superficial so maybe I’m not the best advice giver.  I had done it then not only because I didn’t like the way I looked/felt, but because we had a vacation coming up.   Then to maintain I used others weddings, other vacations, my wedding, family events, etc.  So basically I just used things that would mean picture taking and remembering how I felt looking at pictures in the past was motivation enough for me!

@morkiemama: Also remember too, that with 1300 calories, they need to be the right kind of calories!  I see more muscle tone more quickly if I am intentional about eating more protein than usual, as well as making sure I eat before and an hour after my workout.

Jillian is awesome too, by the way!  I highly recommend No More Trouble Zones — it’s like 30DS, but more intense – it’s a little longer, and the moves are more advanced.

You go girls! I’m right there with you trying to lose 15 lbs, and calories are a big part of my Jenny Craig regimen. I eat 3 meals (B/L/D) at around 300 calories interspersed with 3 snacks between 100-200 calories. Fresh veggies are free calories, which totally helps. I haven’t been hungry yet and I’m eating all sorts of normal food, just much smaller portions. Good luck!

I’ve been kind of following Weight Watchers, I’m not a member, but I have all the materials from when I was a member. I also have MyFitnessPal, can’t remember my username though. I’ll look it up and we should add each other!

Oh! I heart myfitnesspal…I wanna be friends too! I’m rbrenner.

Anyway, take measurements…that’s a better indicator of how your body is changing, the scale can be very deceiving! I haven’t lost any weight, but have replaced a lot of fat with muscle and I look much different (although I’d still like to lose these annoying 5 pounds). You can do it!
