I had something like a 97, 42, then 92 day cycle coming off the pill.  Then I finally settled on my “normal” 35-42 day cycles.

I’m not the norm but I just got my first real period after being on birth control after a year… almost 1 year exactly from my withdrawal bleed.

Honestly, there is no real answer… just the way your body goes. It sucks because you have so little control.

My first cycle was 32 days, then 24 days, and now I’m in the middle of the third post-BCP cycle. No clue what to expect!

ETA: I did not chart the first two cycles off the pill so no clue if I ovulated, but I started charting this cycle and am pretty sure I ovulated on CD 13 based on OPKs and temp spike.

My first month off I Oed on CD 26 (confirmed by both temping and OPKS) and then had a 9 day luteal phase, so the total cycle was 35 days. Second cycle also Oed on CD 26 but had a 12 day luteal phase. 3rd cycle was 35 days but anovulatory. Then I added in Vitex and had a 28 day cycle for my 4th. I’m only halfway through my 5th cycle so I have no idea what will happen now.

Its different for everyone, but I agree it helps to know what other people have experienced.

First month off BCP my cycle was 34 days.  I didn’t track for O.  Second cycle was 29 days with O at CD 17, and third cycle is shaping up to be 34ish days again (O on CD22).  I’ve been ovulating but my cycle length has not stabilized.

My first cycle off BCP my cycle was 41 days. I didn’t confirm O and, looking back on it, I feel that that cycle was anovulatory anyway. My second cycle was 31 days. I didn’t confirm O with OPKs or temping, but I did note down what I thought were O pains – and this matches up with when AF turned up. My third cycle was 37 days. Again, didn’t confirm O and had a bit of a messed up cycle (most likely due to stress earlier in the month). I’ve just started my fourth cycle and will be using OPKs to confirm O.

I was on BC for 16 years and got off them in April.  I got my regular 3 day period in May, and was using the Clear Blue Digital OPKs.  They were all positive with “peak” in May already, and my cycles were 29 days.

I’m not 8 weeks and 3 days preggo 🙂

edepp2010 :  First was 27, second was 34, and I’m on my 3rd looking at a 40 day cycle. I didn’t confirm O first two months, got a confirmed O this month at CD26. Everyone’s body is different.

I was on 16 years and my cycle was normal immediately.  I ovulated ~2 weeks after I quit the pill.

edepp2010 :  After the withdrawal bleed I “skipped” a month and then went back to regular 29-31 menstrual cycles.

larissakay :  This makes me feel a lot better!  I was on bc for 10 years and my first month was 28 days, second was 30 days and I am on day 34, no period yet but I tested negative (we’re not TTC).

missinthecity :  It freaked me out last month because I thought it would be longer the first month and work it’s way back to normal in following months. Not my experience. I hope yours starts soon and normalizes soon!

My first month off was around 34 days, and month by month it would decrease little by little. That was after being on the pill for probably 8 years or so. My cycles settled within a few months to around 29/30 days.

edepp2010 :  I had a 40 day cycle, then got pregnant which ended in MC, and my cycles 2 and 3 off bc have been around 30 days

I also was on it for a long time 7-8 years, but regulated kind of fast after that first long cycle.
