A little over a week, I’d say. Maybe 8-10 days. Just give it time. Mine has regulated to a normal 5 days now and I’ve had it for about 11 months. I have Paragard.

tessaaguiar :  Everybody’s different. I haven’t had a period since I got my Mirena. I had a tiny bit of spotting for a few days when I would have been due for my next period and nothing at all since. I have heard that many women can get long periods or a lot of bleeding or cramping at first, but that it usually sorts itself out within a few months. If you’re concerned, I’d talk to your doctor. I know mine did a check up with my after 6 weeks to make sure everything was ok after insertion.

With the skyla I spotted lightly for about 20 days after insertion but I also got my cervix cauterized the same day so some of it was that. After that it went to normal and my periods have been about 5 days long instead of my previous 14 day periods. It’s been wonderful once it regulated.

I had Mirena and my first bleed was very heavy for about two weeks before it tailed off. Also very sore. After that, I only ever had very light bleeds with mild cramps if any. Everybody is different, and it can take a while for your periods to settle down with an IUS.

tessaaguiar :  I got skyla in 9 weeks after I had my son. Unfortunately, I had light spotting for the majority of a 3-month period. It’s difficult to say whether that was just my body after having a baby or what. I know it kills the mood, but it does get better!

I had a tiny bit of spotting after I got the Skyla, then nothing for a few weeks, then I bled for 6+ weeks! It was like a normal period for a week maybe, but I just. Didn’t. Stop. Spotting. It was super annoying. It would pick back up every once in a while. It did stop eventually. I don’t have really regular cycles yet, but it’s usually several weeks of nothing, and then a 1.5 week super light period. The one thing I miss about bc is my 3 day barely there periods…but they made me feel like a psycho, so overall I’m happy with my Skyla 🙂

I have the non-hormonal one.  3 months straight of cramps and bleeding.

I have the Paraguard (non-hormonal).  I think my first one was like 8-9 days.  It’ll take a few months for things to even out – hang in there!  So worth it!

I had a light period for a week or so and then spotting for a good three weeks.  Now I don’t really get my period.  I have the Skyla.

I had the Mirena inserted 7 weeks ago and still bleeding. Varies in how heavy it is, but right now quite heavy. I had cramps for the first few weeks but that’s gone now.
