Techincally, about 10 hours, but that’s calculating from the time I was admitted to hospital, when I was 3 cm dilated and progressing very quickly.  That was on a Thursday and Dear Daughter was born at 9:26 pm.

I started having very mild contractions on Wednesday around noon but they were 14 minutes apart and weren’t painful.   They continued that way throughout the day and early evening, getting a bit stronger and marginally painful.  It was at 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning that the contractions actually woke me up from a dead sleep and were definitely painful and getting stronger, but not super regular – varying from 4 to 9 minutes apart.   So I guess if we count from then, labour was 19 hours.
