Almost two years. I had just graduated college and started a new job and wanted to get settled with all the changes that were happening in my life before even embarking on wedding planning and we needed to save some serious $$$ since neither of our families are able to contribute at all whatsoever. I had some strange looks when I would tell people our date that was so far off.

What’s funny is that now the wedding is only 10 months away and I just started another new job at a better place, so I guess my idea of timing did not work out like I planned, but I am happier now than ever! Just goes to show you no matter how much you try to control things, life happens!

25 months…

It was fantastic because we booked things right away and paid 2006 prices for a wedding in 2008.

It was a loooooonng time though!

13 months I would say and really only 1 year from when we actually booked the date/reception.  We are 30 and 31 so were not in a rush necessarily but knew we what time of year we wanted to get married.  In the scheme of things I do think being engaged just a few months longer would have made it easier financially.  I just would say really try to stick in your budget and know that you will be able to save enough in time.  Unfortunately my finacee got laid off which is part of why it made it tough on us but something we couldn’t have predicted when we booked all of our vendors.  Always prepare for the unexpected!

28 months (OK, at that rate you may as well just say 2 years) and we’re at the 8 month mark.  Why?  I’d just started grad school and wanted to enjoy the planning process.

I started honest-to-goodness booking things a year out, and people thought I was crazy early.  All the big stuff is done, so I’m in that ho-hum lull when not much happens.

Looking back, my grandmother was right.  Six months would have been fine, I just want to be married already!!

Ours will end up being about 15 months. I would have been comfortable with anything from 6-18 months.

We started with 19 months, and how time has flown!  We only have 9 left – yikes!  Thank god we had such a cushion of time – it took us 7 months to find a venue 🙂

xo,

17 months – This was set based on how much we could realistically save each month to add up to enough to get ourselves a low key wedding for 50-60 people. We’re nearing almost a year away and those five months have really flown by. I booked things early because Fiance and I are super busy in the summer months. It seems a little strange to have so much down time not talking to the vendors – especially with the venue. The venue coordinator has answered a few of my questions via email after we booked (16 months in advance) but we don’t have our tasting until sometime in April/May ’09 which seems like eon’s away. The one thing about the length of the engagement is that time has worked for me and against me. Time has allowed to me to seek out numerous ideas, best costs etc but I’m also constantly changing my mind.

21 months. It’s a tad long, but we’ll survive. The first chunk, I was really busy, and other than booking a venue, we didn’t do anything. Now that we’re only 9 months out, we’re planning "for real."

16 months… still 14 to go, lol. But we have the wedding venus, reception venue, photographer, and DJ all booked.  And the best part is, is that their prices are all going up very soon, so we got 2008 pricing for 2009.  Yippee!

I have noticed the planning start to wind down already, though.  I feel like now that I have the major stuff booked I can calm down a little.  I have almost got the Save-The-Date Cards and invitations picked out so that won’t be too stressful either.  I’m liking the longer engagement, but part of me wishes it would just get here already!

23 months which was too long.
By the time, the wedding rolled around, I was just ready to be a Mrs.

about 16 months since the time we got engaged…but mostly because I am indecisive about EVERYTHING and couldn’t nail down a date for the life of me!
