My boyfriend and I have been together for 9 months but have known each other for 10 years. We have been talking about the future and even looked at engagement rings together. When did you and your SO start talking marriage and when did he propose?

We were together a month shy of two years when he proposed, had been living together a year an a half. We first looked at rings 8 months into dating.

Started talking marriage within months; proposal just shy of three years.

4.5 years, and we lived together for 3 of those years! He took his time haha
I hate to say it, but don’t get your hopes up too much since you looked at rings! We looked at rings and talked about our future for like 2 years before he finally popped the question.

I was with him 2 yrs before he proposed, but he started hinting around at proposals a yr prior.

We got engaged after 3 years together, but discussed it after about a year. We had a 2 year engagement (for logistical reasons) and will have been married 3 years in Sep, together for 8.

Discussed it after a few months, moved in together after 6 months, engaged just shy of a year.

Dated 9.5 years before he proposed. We were pretty young when we started dating. Started talking about marriage 6 years in and looked at rings briefly at the 6.5 year mark. 3 years later after that, he proposed.

We started talking about marriage early on, but we were so young when we started dating (we were both 21), so we didn’t want to rush into things. We ended up dating for over 5 years before we got engaged and, to be honest, I’m so glad we waited that long. Not right for everyone, but perfect for us. 🙂

Talked marriage from very early on. He proposed after 7 years and 5 months (minus about 2 weeks lol)

We were weird. We were friends for 7 years before we dated. He used to say we would get married and I would say “no, no, you are like a brother I never wanted. You’re just my friend”. He was right. We dated for 3 years before getting engaged. We both knew we would get married after I said yes to the first date.

We dated a year before we got engaged. We knew on our second date, though.
