About 1.5 hours after we got engaged, we had decided on May/June. After that, it took us about a 1.5 months before we narrowed down the exact date (which was based partly on what the venue had available).

We cheated. We had already started talking about dates before he officially asked. So the night he asked, on the way home I said “So is March 30, 2013 still the day you had in mind?” He said Yup. You are right it was on our fb walls that night so it’s what I said and luckily the venue had it available. So we had our date picked that night basically but that doesn’t happen for everyone LOL

@radar:  we decided on the time frame within 6 weeks of the proposal. But it was another 2 months after that when we really started looking at venues that we settled on a date and booked our venue.

Congrats btw!

we got engaged on 3/22/10 and it took us almost 2 years to set a concrete date of 7/18/13

We set a general timeline (debated having a spring or fall wedding) and booked our venue about 1-2 months after being engaged. I wanted to get it booked quick so then I could relax. 🙂 I spent a few weeks just searching for venues and visiting venues before actually finding THE venue.

@radar:  we discussed things amongst just us. knew right away we didn’t want 2013 (got engaged in october 2012) so we figured we had lots of time.  now that we are pased the holidays we are talking things more, and set a month and general location.

within a couple of hours! hehe.

actually the timing of the marriage (NOT the marriage itself) is important for me to get a visa so we knew it had to be at least within 12 months, and from there we just picked a time of year that would work weather-wise.

We set a date with the church within a week, but it was tentative until we could get the reception hall booked – luckily it all worked out and we had the final date within about 2 weeks.

It took us about a month to have a tentative date and it is still not final.. but yes, I was asked that 5 minute after I told family and friends!

Like 5 years, lol. Not really, but we’ve been talking it about it that long. I think we’ll probably end up doing the formal “announcement” based more around when we decide the date will be, rather than the other way around. That way we can bask before we have to answer any serious questions.

We got engaged 2 years ago, but we just recently got my e-ring – and when I got my e-ring [so it was official] we planned a date.

He had proposed with a ring that his mother gave him to use – I’m quite picky and he didn’t want to buy a ring and have me hate it [he’s such a sweetie].
