We got engaged this May and are getting married next October, so it’ll be a year and 5 months. We wanted to save and do things slowly.

Congrats on your engagement!

We got engaged Dec. 2009 and married in May 2010.  so six months give or take.  it seemed really short to me, but now that we’re married i’m so happy we didn’t wait longer.  Getting married and having our life start as soon as possible was the best decision!

We were engaged 18 months, which worked for us.  I think you should plan for a date that works for YOU and your Fiance.  Congrats!  🙂

We got engaged April 21, 2010 and will be getting married on Dec 21, 2010! So, 8 months. It doesn’t seem like it’s been 8 months! We are having  small destination wedding though. I can’t imagine only have 8 months to plan a big wedding. We had also been dating for over 3 years, so I’m glad we are getting married soon!

We were engaged in July of 2010.  We toyed with the idea of a Fall 2010 wedding but worried we wouldnt have time to get everything planned.  NOW — that Fall has come and gone –  I know I definitely could have done it as long as the venue was available.

Once you get going — it is pretty easy.  Just find a venue, a church, a DJ, and a Photog that will do next fall and the rest will fall into place!

Plus you can always get a 0% credit card that is at that percentage for a year and pay it off as you go! and then with your wedding money! 🙂

A poll might be helpful so you can get a better visual.

We got engaged on June 8th, 2009 and married on October 8th, 2010. So that’s 16 months…we wanted a fall wedding as well.

We got engaged 11/26/09 and will be getting married 9/17/11, so we’ll have been engaged for 22 months. I thought it sounded like a good amount of time when the date was picked. However, now… It’s way too much time. It’s given me too much time to go back and forth on decisions because I didn’t have to decide on anything right away. I am super indecisive, so I kind of wish I had just had to make up my mind quickly, because nothing would have gotten done otherwise. Oh well.

Congrats on your engagement! By the time we get married, it will be 26 months being engaged; I wanted a spring/summer wedding and one year just wasn’t enough time for us to save up money.. so two years it is!

  • Wedding: November 2011

We got engaged this past August, and will mostly likely be getting married in November 2012 (although we haven’t actually set a date yet, we are in no huge rush).

I did have an aunt reply to me when I told her when we were thinking of getting married “Why not just go down to town hall and get it over with?” and my response was “That’s not the wedding that we want for ourselves!”.  We’ve been dating for almost 6 years, and we think we deserve to have whatever kind of wedding we want to have (and since we will be paying for it ourselves, I don’t see an issue!!).  So, if this means that we have to wait a couple more years to make it happen, I am totally fine with that!

We got engaged on 11/8/2009.  We knew we wanted a tented reception, which limited our choices to less than 12 months or approximately 18 months.  We went with the latter because Weddings are expensive.  Once we set the date I got the same quizzical look and the question, “Why so long?”  I gave the simple answer, “Apparently these wedding things are expensive.”  That usually shut the conversation down.  I’d go with what you and Fiance are comfortable with when it comes to picking a date.  18-24 months will fly by while hopefully keeping you from getting overly stressed out.

We got engaged in October 2009, and will be getting married in July 2011, so we will be engaged for a total of 1 year and 9 months. I personally like having a longer engagement, because it gave me time to come up with a timeline not be too stressed about planning.

  • Wedding: April 2011

We got engaged August 20, 2010 and will be getting married April 3, 2011 so about a 7 1/2 month engagement which is PLENTY long enough for me! I really wanted a fall wedding but am way too impatient to wait for over a year. Hell 7 months feels like forever.  I’ve got pretty much everything done already (venue, caterer, cake, flowers, dress, photographer, dj, favors, Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses) so I don’t anticipate being crunched for time.

It’s been a *knock on wood* very smooth planning process thus far.  Planning on taking a little break over the holidays, then diving into the little stuff after the New Year.

I know I’m supposed to enjoy this time, but dangit, I just want it to be here, already!  I just want to be married to him and start our lives together, that’s what this is all really about, after all.
