Fiance and I were together for 2.5 years (although we’ve known each other since 6th grade) and we’re getting married in October 2013, so just under 2 years. We were going to do it next year, but due to illnesses in the family we’re waiting an extra year.

He proposed after 3 1/2 years of dating and will be engaged for exactly 1 year!

We were together for 5 years and 7 months. He just proposed on Christmas Eve. We haven’t set a date in stone, but most likely will have an 18 months engagement. As hard as it’s been to wait I’m glad we did. We’ve lived together for 5 years and I feel like we have been through enough ups and downs to have an already steady marriage if you know what I mean. To be fair to the early engage-rs, we found out we were expecting our first child just 8 months after we started dating. Looking back, if he would have asked me to marry him at 3 months I would have said yes. In our case we just knew we would be together forever within the first month of dating.

We were together a little over 3.5 years when we got engaged. We will celebrate our 6 year anniversary a couple of weeks after we get married 🙂 Hugely long engagement, but necessary given that we got engaged when he was still in college and we want to pay for most of the wedding ourselves.

We’d been together 2.5 years when he proposed and we’re getting married 16 months later.

Fiance proposed three days after our 8 year dating anniversary. (we started dating at 16) We decided on a year and (almost) 9 month engagement… he proposed november 7th 2010, and our date is August 4th 2012. The longer engagement was better for us because it gave us time to save some money and to relax with the planning… there haven’t been many stressful moments so far 🙂 Plus, I figured it would go by very slow…but the time has been flying by!

We are in your boat. Engaged after 4.5 yrs, will be married a few months shy of 6 yrs. My Fiance jokes that after you’re married you don’t tell people how long you were dating after the wedding, because that becomes insiginificant. So I say. what do I tell people when they ask? Oh we just got together…totally ignoring the 6 yrs of getting to know you. ;P Anyway, it really comes down tot he fact that all relationships are different. We knew we were serious very early on, but we were in grad school when we met, then we wanted to establish ourselves for at least a yr after getting out. That’s why we were in such a long relationship. Maybe some of those shorter engagements were between people who were ready for marriage right then and there…at least I hope hehe.

We dated for 8 months before he took me by surprise with the proposal. That was November of 2010. We’re getting married August 25, 2012… so that makes our engagement period just under 2 years. I wouldn’t want it any other way! We have had so much time to plan out our new life together and to make sure we have the kind of wedding that WE want.

We were together for 4 years before he proposed and we were engaged for 15 months. But only because I was a Junior in college when he proposed and he promised my parents that we wouldn’t get married before I graduated. And we didn’t! Just two months after. lol.

We got engaged after about 1.5 years of dating, got married a few months past the 2 year mark. I don’t know how long engagement gals do it, the waiting would drive me batty!
