We were together for almost three years before he proposed; planning our wedding is a bit of a challenge due to school schedules and house hunting but I hope to get married within the next two years!

@Val1969: Wow! You’ve been together longer than most marriages last!  That’s love right there!  I can only hope that my relationship sustains as yours has.  Congrats on your engagement; you’ve most definitely put in your dues.

I’m not engaged yet, so I can’t really play ๐Ÿ™

We started ring shopping a month or so before our 4 year anniversary and he proposed shortly after it (the ring wasn’t ready in time for it, haha).  Our engagement will be just shy of a year and we’ll be getting married a few days before our 5 year anniversary!

Anniversary: June 11 (2007)

Engagement: June 21 (2011)

Wedding: June 2 (2012)

Fiance and I are the cliché couple. We met during our Freshmen year of high school, and will celebrate seven years together in March of 2012. Fiance proposed in February of 2009, just shy of our fourth anniversary. By the time we get married in October of 2012, we will have been engaged for over three and a half years. The engagement was really way too long for us. We would have gotten married the same year we were engaged if we could have, but there was no way around it. We took on a lot after graduating high school; moving to a new state, going to school full time, working, paying bills, and maintaining our own home. After trying to plan a wedding numerous times, and having to postpone plans due to our finances and family financial issues, we’re finally in a position to set a date (October 12, 2012 – exactly one week in-between FI’s and my birthday; Fiance will be 23 on the 5th, and I will be 23 on the 19th) and make it happen.

Trust me, I have done my share of being jealous though. Seeing friends of mine get married, whom haven’t been with their spouses nearly as long as Fiance and I have been, and haven’t endured the long engagement is beyond aggravating, but at the same time, I’m proud of Fiance and I, because at the end of the day, we’re making it all happen on our own.

The very first time we talked (seriously talked) about getting married we’d been dating for 4.5 months…and it was actually he who brought it up first!  After that, we were more or less ‘engaged’ unofficially, talking about where we wanted to get married and all of the other details, and became officially engaged 1 day shy of our 11 month anniversary.  We’re planning our wedding to be May of 2013 (almost exactly 2 years from the day he first brought up marriage), so about a year and a half after the proposal, we’ll have been together just under 2.5 years when it happens, so our engagement will be longer than the length of time we dated LOL. And to prove we’re crazy, we moved in together about a month and a half after our first date!!  It was just ‘right’…I didn’t want to waste precious time together!!

My first marriage we did everything in 18 month increments…accidentally LOL.  Dated for 18 months, then moved in together for 18 months, then we were engaged for 18 months…it was just how it worked.  We were very happy together, and were married for 6 months when he was diagnosed and just over 4 years (together just shy of 9) when he died and we both said we wished we hadn’t waited so long for marriage….I took our advice and didn’t hold back this time around Wink

We were together for a year and one month when he proposed. My Fiance and I were not friends prior to us dating but we had already (briefly) introduced to each other thru mutual friends from our grad school program. Our engagement will last for 22 months.

@live laugh love: Together just days over 2 years when he proposed and will be married just days before the one year anniversary of said proposal. So, three years from start to marriage by the time it’s all done and said. ๐Ÿ™‚

We were together around 5 years when he proposed and we’re having a 2 year engagement. We figure we’ll be married for the rest of our lives so we’re in no rush!
