From what I am reading on the forum many of you get excited when the box arrives to your home, because it has the ring in it.
So… how long do you wait for the ring to be ready, after you purchase it? I’m curious about the process…

My fiance picked out my ring, purchased it all by nimself, and proposed 3 weeks later (when he purchased it, kay jewlers had to ship it off to get resized first) when he got it back, he planned a proposal.

He ordered the ring Sept. 28th and it was on my hand Oct. 12. I think he may have picked it up a few days before? Im not entirely sure. I know he had it for a few days becuase he hid it in the paper shredder!

He bought the ring in early September I think, and he proposed in December! I stumbled upon the ring in his desk so I knew it was coming…but my Fiance is a very patient man and he really wanted to make sure he had the perfect proposal idea! He wanted to do it in the city that we met and a specific event so that’s why it took longer 🙂

DH ordered the ring in january (this was a few years ago) and it was ready in early march. he proposed the same day he picked it up. 🙂 as far as how long it takes for the ring to be ready, it depends on where it’s bought. some places you can buy the actual ring they show you and walk out with it that day. other places, the rings are made custom to your ring size and it takes weeks to months to get the ring in. you get to try on different settings and they have loose diamonds (or other stones) for you to pick from depending on your budget.

I had the ring custom designed and made by a local artisan, using gold and stones from heirloom jewelery, and two new stones. It took about a month. First she did some drawings, then I asked for some modifications to the design, and when that was settled, she made a wax model of the ring. Once I approved the wax model, she made the ring. I picked it up about a week before I proposed; it was a total surprise to my fiancée.

he spent a lot of time trying to maneuver me into the perfect position, so from when he had the ring to when he proposed, it was 6 months.

My ring was custom made so it was a long process that started in August last year. He got the ring mid-February and I’m still waiting! I found it in our office a couple weeks after he got it, I didn’t look at it which was torture and I had him hide it somewhere else. I can’t lie I have been tempted and have gone looking a couple times but I can’t seem to find it so he must have hidden it much better this time. Since we designed the ring together I really wants the proposal to be a surprise which according to him is why I’m still waiting.
