If you’re on HelloBee, Mrs. Jacks is blogging about their adoption process.  You might recognize her from the Hive…  😉

@Mrs. Spring:  Oh!  I didn’t realize, but now I totally know who she is!

There was a long adoption thread on wedingbee a few months ago that you can probably still find from searching.

@MrsDibs:  @skibobrown:   I was SO excited when she started blogging!

I’m pretty sure Miss Green (on here) has started the process to publicly adopt.  Hopefully, she’ll chime in on this thread and tell us about her experience!

I follow babycenter. It has a ton of adopting couples and it breaks it down to foster care, international, domestic, etc.

@Mrs. Spring:  🙂

I will be honest and say it hasn’t been positive so far. I know I said on another thread that we were starting with foster care and taking our classes but considering private adoption as well. Well the reason for that is we were placed with a horrible social worker who when interviewed me about my upbringing and not being raised by my parents due to my sexual abuse immediately judges me. She never asked about my therapy, my recovery etc and told me they could decline us due to my history. I felt so discriminated against. How could my past which I’m fully recovered from be harmful in raising a child? Even our family therapist said if we were placed with a child in a similar situation it would be helpful having been in that child’s shoes. We did think about going to another county, but I’m so furious that I don’t know what to do.

I just heard about HelloBee – seems like a great site! are others on it?

@OP – good luck with the process.  I don’t know anything about it but my nephew is adopted and I know my BIL & SIL had an overall good experience.

My parents have had two pretty positive adoption stories. I can PM you their blog from their first adoption if you want it. We are in the middle of adoption number 2 right now, but so far so good other than paperwork taking too long…always.

@MissGreen:  Wow, I am so sorry you’re going through this.  It seems ridiculous to me that the social worker would only take one piece of the story, instead of looking at the bigger picture.  I hope you’re able to adopt, even if that means exploring other options!

Yes we have spoken with the agency and will be receiving another SW but the judgement is there and it’s hard to move past. I’ve spoken with many private agencies and other foster adopt placements and it should have never happened this way according to them. They all tell me that in a way that blames me for my past and punishes me and I agree. I didn’t ask for any of this and it does not and will not effect my ability to parent. I haven’t seen her in awhile so I’m not sure if something happened there. I was assured aftecoiling the complaint that something of that nature would not effect our ability to adopt. I just never dreamed of getting slammed so early in the game.

I’m not adopting…. But was adopted. If you need other input you can ask someone from the other side.
