It’s just DH and I, no pets. I use a large amount of kleenex, I think half of our garbage is probably kleenex. 2 normal bags, or 3 small ones, plus our blue bin is about half full. Yardwork can create more, and if we toss out a bunch of stuff that obviously creates more too.
I look at some places here on garbage day, and I wonder how they can create so much! Our neighbours (family of 4) put out about 12 bags every week!

We have my kids 1/2 of the week and we have the same amount of garbage as you do each week. 12 bags? that’s a lot of garbage for a family of 4!

We have a dog and a 2 year old.
Every 2 weeks we put out about 2-3 bags of garbage, the compost bin and about 3-4 recycling bags.
…and I feel like that’s a LOT. Most of my neighbors (although older, without kids) only have one bag of trash and a couple recyling bags..

2 adults, 2 kids 1 dog, 1 cat.
We usually have a bag of trash per day- not counting recycling. Diapers count for a lot of space. As does the litter from the cat box- that cat is a prolific pooper.

It’s just the two of us, and one bag a week!

@AB Bride: 12 bags is ALOT! Do they just throw away everything??
We have literally one bag of garbage a week and its mostly food remnants (no garbage disposal sadly!) from cooking ect. I recycle a lot and try not to use paper products (ie plates and paper towels). It stinks because our garbage service comes every week, where our recycling comes once every two weeks. We need it reversed haha
It is just the two of us and our dog. I bet we will have more trash when we have kids but I try to not create a lot of waste.

There is two adults, a 2 year old and a cat. We have usually between 2 to 3 bags. 2 are usually kitchen garbage and the 3rd is diapers for the week. Now this past week garabage pick up is Tueday mornings our garbage bin was full. My DH cleaned out our freezer chest and upstairs freezer and did some house cleaning.

@eeniebeans: I totally understand diapers. These guys have older kids though, neighbours on the other side have 2 young kids, one in diapers for sure, the other I don’t know. They have more bags than us, but are no where near 12.
I don’t see any signs of pets with the garbage-full family, but I do realize they could have various indoor pets I’m unaware of.

@AB Bride: Do you have a green bin? It’s a bin that all the organics go into in that case you are able to put tissues into that. Where I live we are only able to put garbage out every second week. The recycling and green bins are picked up each week

@Boxerlover24: They recycle too. They have about 1 or 2 blue bags every week as well. Garbage day is the same as recycling day here. We have an awesome recycling program. No fee, no sorting neccessary, and they actually go through all the garbage and recycle what can be.
I have no idea if they have a business or what. I know she works long hours, and is rarely home.

It’s just me and the dog right now. Usually 1 tall kitchen trash bag and a full recycling bin. When baby gets here I imagine that will significantly increase!

@sweetchiquita12: They don’t recycle used paper products here like tissues or paper towel. It’s just blue or garbage. We personally don’t compost either, we might start someday, we’ll see.

It’s just the two of us with all small trash cans. I put out the kitchen bag every night regardless of how full it is. We live in a tiny apartment and I can’t stand the smell of food trash sitting overnight. Plus it keeps the mice away.
With that in mind I probably put out about one big bag of trash a week. I have no clue how they could put out 12 a week, that’s almost two a day! Maybe they order out a lot? I know take out containers take up a lot of space.

Usually less than 1/2 a bag between my husband and I. 1.5 if we cut the grass. No kids or pets either.

2 adults and a dog. LOTS AND LOTS of recycling. I think we have maybe 1 bag of actual garbage a week.
