So I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about engagement chicken these days and I just needed to do a quick poll to see how many bees have tried it before. So how many of yall have tried making E-chiken, if so what was the overall result/feedback? Any tips?

Haha, I make it frequently, but it’s pretty much just a lemon chicken, LOL. I made it long before it was called “engagement chicken” and I will continue to make it.

I never tried it because I’m a vegetarian. Even though my SO is not, I still refuse to cook meat. I do make him home cooked stuff all the time: lasagna, chili, casserole- you name it!

I choose disaster but not because the bird turned out bad. The day I made it my brother was home from filming (he works on movie sets) and he decided to come visit me for dinner. All night long my brother (SM) and my SO taked about video games, and movies that SM is working on. To make matters worse SM kept on saying how good the dinner is and how I am really becoming a good cook, while my SO was quiet the entire night. Earlier that day I set up the fire pit so we could have a romantic night by the fire. So instead of sitting there watching the fire in a blanket drinking hot cocoa my brother and SO ran all over the place, like 5 years olds that ate a bag of candy, trying to find things to throw into the fire. They threw in a peach, sparklers, hay, the sports section of the news paper anything they could get their hands on. But I do have to admit, I had a really good time laughing at the two of them.

I’m so confused!!! What is an engagement chicken??? I’ve been seeing a few posts about this over the last few days.

I made it a year or so ago, but the inside of part of it wasn’t quiiiiiiiite done all the way, lol. I’m usually a really good cook, Boyfriend or Best Friend insists I should make a career out of it, but really I just enjoy it as a hobby and wouldn’t want to make it ‘work’. Idk why it wasn’t done all the way, but I think I was just anxious to get it outta the oven and into his belly so the proposing could commence??? Lmao, I crack myself up.

I made it but I always cook so it wasn’t any different than other roast chicken dinners I have made.
And Im not engaged!

I made it a while back and still no ring…Unfortunately it was waaaaay undercooked. My boyfriend secretly put it back in the oven while I cleaned up before we ate! I only found out recently!

Hmmm some interesting results. From what I’ve read before I would have thought more bees would of had some raving reviews. Maybe keeping longer than the instruction is a good tip.

I made it twice, and he proposed the day after I made it the second time. I did not, however, think it had any magical properties. I told him ahead of time what it was called and that he would probably feel extra-inclined to propose after eating it and we had a good laugh about it. I made it the second time because he loved it (and I had another chicken in the freezer.) I cook a lot though, and have a food blog, so for me it was just a new recipe to try. Fiance loves lemon chicken so I figured a roasted chicken with lemons and lemon juice would probably be a favorite for him and it was.

OMG Engagement chicken is the BEST thing EVER! I made celebration engagement chicken on Friday! BEST ONE!!!! This is one meal your b/f will be impressed with even after he becomes your FI!!!
Oh this time I cut up a juicy pomegranate and put it in with one lemon..the tart and zest from the lemon really gives it a nice flavor!

I made it, and honestly don’t remember it. That was a year and a half ago but I’m half way considering making it again,

I made a couple months ago and it was basically like a regular dinner. He was really impressed with the aesthetics of it, but it didn’t make him rave about my cooking or wifey material.
I think he likes it more when I roast something while he’s home and he can smell it through the house. When I made the chicken, it was done when he got home. Last night I made corned beef and he said he could smell it in the middle of the night and loved it.
