Yes! And just by the look/smell/taste of it my ring has gotta be on its way

Yes. But it was almost like an everyday dinner dish

Yes. But talk about a disaster (I'm sure its no testament for my cooking skills though)

    No. But soon!

    Not interested!

I’ve made roast chicken on a regular basis for years.  I had no idea about engagement chicken… but I guess it worked?

I’ve never made this, but I’m thinking about trying it out this weekend as a special treat for my Fiance. Sounds really yummy!

@PinkPinstripes: LOL! I read that and immediately thought of “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Totally sounds like a Marie (the mother-in-law) move. ๐Ÿ™‚

@shmell7:Omg I could write a book with all the things she says!! She has a big heart but no filter and literally says anything that comes to mind. For that dinner, she called when they were about 20 mins from our apartment and said she needed the entire oven cleared because she was going to cook. Um…we’re good, thanks. lol

@divergirl:I knew she was going to bring a “side” dish but when she called 20min out and said she needed the whole oven for her dishes, I knew something was up. I wasn’t entirely surprised and when she came in, I kinda put my foot down and said “no, I’m not ruining the chicken and other stuff for your frozen pasta shells”

I didn’t really say it that directly but I just didn’t accomodate her. She likes to test boundaries and I can be just as stubborn and made sure not to leave her alone in the kitchen. Sad but true

Actually, I made FH’s faves instead. I made a gumbo and then later in the week I followed with with a chilli. My FH loves chilli. He keep telling me that he loved it so much and that the chilli was the best that I had ever made. I was engaged less than two weeks later, but I think it was a coincidence. lol

@PinkPinstripes: OMG My Future Mother-In-Law is the same!!! I never leave her alone in the kitchen when I am cooking cos she takes over and totally changes what I am doing.  Its like having alittle kid in the kitchen – I know she wants to help so I give her little tasks (usually pointless and time consuming (hehehe)).

    Sorry for hijacking the thread!!

PS she sounds very Marie on Raymond! lol

@picturemeurs: Exactly. Even though I wrote a long post about it, there is no way I actually think the chicken is magic. It’s just a fun way to vent your frustrations to the chicken instead of your SO. ANd it’s also fun to think that in some way you have some control over the proposal.

Hahahaha I made it last weekend.  I had been planning to make it, and then he proposed (YAY!!!), so I made post-engagement chicken ๐Ÿ™‚

Anywho, it was a DISASTER!!! I’m usually good about trying recipes out alone beforehand, instead of on a special night (that would be my number one tip!!!) but it was soo undercooked that I had to sheepishly put it back in the oven for half an hour to make sure we didn’t get poisoned!  I initated some ‘fun times’ to pass the time, so all went well and Fiance certainly didn’t complain.  When it was (finally) done, it tasted AMAZING.  I’d definitely make it again!!

@Bride2BeAshley:  Haha…I never picked up on that from the show. That’s hilarious!

So, I just made this recipe last night, and I have to say, we were a bit underwhelmed. The chicken was OK, but I think it needed a little something. Thank goodness I’m already engaged. ๐Ÿ™‚

I asked him if it would have made him propose to me, and his answer was “of course…wink wink” ๐Ÿ™‚ Haha…boys.

    Next up, beer can chicken!
