Honestly- I much prefer small bridal parties. I have about 7 people that I considered making a bridesmaid and in some ways I wish I could have picked them all. My fiance was only comfortable asking 3 guys, and while I don’t think uneven sides is always bad, I have more than 3 times the number of guests at the wedding as he did, so I didn’t want to have way more attendants too. We decided to include all siblings, so my sister and his sister leave only one slot open. I decided to pick the friend I’ve been friends with the longest. Although I’m closer to other of my friends in certain ways, all of the others came in groups where there might have been hurt feelings choosing just one. I went with my oldest friend because she has always been there for me, and it caused less hurt feelings than other choices. I’m making the other 4 honorary bridesmaids. They don’t get to be bridesmaids, but they don’t have to buy the dress or invest in the other expenses of a bridesmaids and still get honored in the program. They seemed to like that.

I have 3… my best friend and another very good friend both i’ve known for 12 years through highschool and another great friend I met 5 years ago through work. You want your CLOSEST friends.. not friends who you kind of talk to . Some people feel the need to put their SIL in the party because it’s traditional or something but not me.

@MrsSmitty: I had my older sister as my matron of honor, my reallllly close cousin as my maid of honor, my sister in law as a bridesmaid (we weren’t very close but every other sibling was in the bridal party and I didn’t wanna leave her out) and my best friend as a bridesmaid 🙂

I have six bridesmaids and one junior bridesmaid. It was easy to choose my bridesmaids because they’re my favorite people in the world! Four of them are my cousins and the other two I’ve been close friends with for over a decade. My junior bridesmaid is the cutest 8 year old in the world and she’s been my mini BFF basically since the day she was born (her mother refers to me as her “co-parent”). Sometimes I think that a smaller bridal party would be easier to manage but I can’t imagine my wedding day without these girls by my side so I think it worked out for the best!

I am having seven. It was ten, but I decided to shuffle some things around before I officially asked anyone. I had a falling out with my future SIL/friend and have decided, due to this, to not ask her to be in the party. My other friend and I have simply drifted apart. No hard feelings, but as we haven’t spoken in months it seems odd to ask her to be in the bridal party. Lastly, my SO and I asked one of my best friends to be the officiant, so she got bumped up as that, so now I’m down to seven.
1. My sister and Matron of Honor
2. My sister and Maid of Honor
3. Best friend since age 12
4. Brother’s girlfriend of four years who I have grown to love as a sister.
5. Best friend since high school
6. Groom’s sister
7. Best friend since high school
