I am having trouble deciding how many bridesmaids to have in my wedding party. I have heard that the average number is four to six, but some people don’t have any, and some people have 10 or more. I am curious to know what Bees are deciding when it comes to choosing the number of bridesmaids. If you have a minute, cast your vote. I am excited to see what everyone else is doing!

I’m shooting for four. Three for me would actually be ideal, but I want to be in the center of all the pictures. 😛

How many good friends do you have that you would like to stand by you? Decide that way, not based on number. I had 4.

I only had two. My maid of honor was my cousin and my other bridesmaid was my closest friend.

@crescentloon23: It’s totally up to you! I had 7, it really doesn’t matter and should be your decision : )

4 + 1 jr. bridesmaid. My fiance has 4 groomsmen including his best man.
I originally wanted my maid of honor only, but then I rekindled friendships with two of my friends and sister during the long engagement and asked the other three about 6 months prior to the wedding.
My suggestion is to wait until you are entirely sure. And do not ask someone because you feel obligated.

@crescentloon23: It was very difficult for me to decide on this. Ultimately it came down to either having 2, my sister and my future sister in law, or 8. I weighed the pros and cons of both, and decided that if I had all 8 girls I’d have all of the important people with me during the rehearsal and while getting ready the morning of the wedding. The one downside to having a large bridal party is the expense of flowers (bouquets for each girl add up quickly!) and the expense of gifts.

I voted zero. It would kind of be too much. I’m pretty adamant about keeping my wedding super small, 50 people, which is all family, my 5 best friends and their husbands and I wouldn’t want to choose between them so I’m just not having any. They’ll look better filling out the “crowd” than standing up there with me lol

I have 10. Don’t let anyone tell you there is a specific number of bridesmaids, choose the people you care about standing up next to you.

I had 10 total – 2 were my younger cousins who wanted to be BM’s and not flower girls (ages 9 and 7). For me, it was having all of my best friends or none of them. At the end of the day I wanted to have all my best friends standing by my side.
My H had 9 total; including our 2 ring bearers.
Choose which friends you want standing by your side, don’t pick based off of some random number you decide.

I will have a Best Woman, and no more. I just can’t deal with the drama. LOL.

I have 7… My sister only had 2. One thing you do want to think about is the size of the church. The church my sister got married in was tiny. If she had more than 2 we would not have fit.

I’m having 11! I’ve been to weddings where there was one and a wedding where there was 18! It’s completely up to you! 🙂

I have one maid of honor, two bridesmaids, and two bridesmen. Fiance has one best man, two groomsmen, and two groomsmaids.
