I wanted things to be even between the groomsmen and the bridesmaids. My groom has a TON of friends and decided immediately that he wanted at least 5 groomsmen and would find jobs for his other close friends.

Well, I don’t have as many close friends as him, so I reached out to my two best friends, two of my long distance friends who are extremely helpful and positive people, and my youngest niece who will serve as junior bridesmaid/flowergirl/ringbearer all in one swoop.

I think it will work out fine ๐Ÿ™‚

@crescentloon23:  I’m having 4, my 3 sisters (2 are my sisters and the 3rd is FSIL), and then my best friend.  My oldest sister and best friend are my 2 Matrons of Honor.  I imagine in pics (never thought of it this way before, but woo hoo for being even!) I’ll be in the middle with an Maid/Matron of Honor on either side, with my two sisters on one side and Future Sister-In-Law and other Maid/Matron of Honor on the other side.  Fun fun! ๐Ÿ™‚

4! I originally wanted 6, but Fiance has a distant family member I’m not too fond of who would have been included in the wedding party if we each got 6. So 4 is is:)

I had one Maid/Matron of Honor and two BMs. My sister, cousin, and brother’s sister. Three was just the right number for me.

My mom thought that my older sister should be a Bridesmaid or Best Man too (I’d been a flower girl in her wedding 13 years earlier), but then I would have had to have my husband’s older sister, my two friends from high school, and before I knew it, we wouldn’t have all been able to fit up front!

In the end, it was about how I was closest to and wanted to be up there with me. I found other ways to include the women that I didn’t have stand up with me.

Only two for me. My sister and a friend I’ve known for half my life. I wanted people I KNOW I will still talk to in 10 years, because I am really bad at keeping in touch with people.

I had 6 bridesmaids, and while I love all of them dearly, I do feel like 6 was overkill.  Less would’ve been nice, but I really wanted them all up there with me!

0, and it’s pretty great.  We wanted to keep things simple and intimate for the actual ceremony.  Our friends and siblings know they’re important to us – they don’t need to stand up in matching clothes to prove it.  And, they’re all still pitching in to help with everything we need, so we didn’t lose wedding helpers.

3 – my 2 sisters and my Future Sister-In-Law. I’m pretty happy with that number, I don’t think I’d want it any higher. Pick your bridesmaids based on who you are closest with, not based on how many you feel you should have.

@aliciaspinnet:  I’m pretty much having the same as you!  I’ll have three attendants:  my sister as Maid/Matron of Honor, my cousin (who is like a sister) and Future Sister-In-Law as bridesmaids.

I reckon the UK average is 2-4. I had 3 which was the perfect number for me, partly because I think it’s the right number for being available to chat/help but not too many to organise. But mostly because there were three women in my life who I wanted to support me on my wedding day. Choose the number that are important to you ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll have 7. I’ve already had “yes’s” from 6, so there’s a chance there will only be 6…but fingers crossed! I originally planned for 5 girls, but due to some Future Mother-In-Law drama I ended up asking my sisters (we aren’t close and they would not have minded if they weren’t included)…so now I have 7. I was stressing about how that’s a lot, but yesterday I was talking to FI’s cousin who is getting married in November, and she has 9! So now I feel better ๐Ÿ™‚

I have 5 for sure… but because my Fiance has 6 groomsmen, then I will find one more friend (less good friend) in order to not having to be pushed to choose one my Mother-In-Law is insisting on (her favorite potentially to be daughter in law). Eeek!
