I don’t think the sides have to be even. We had 4 bms/4 gms but I wish I’d included more of my best friends. Our wedding had 120 guests and I was concerned that having a big bridal party would “look stupid” but I feel even more stupid that I didn’t include some of my best friends in the end. I would have had 8 bridesmaids which would have seemed silly for the size of our wedding, but in the end, who cares? That said, it’s definitely cheaper (less gifts, flowers, etc) to have less people in the bridal party, but I really do think that you should include all your most favorite people in your Wedding Party, regardless of size!

I have 2 MOHs (my sisters) and 4 BMs for a total of 6 girls. Fiance will have 5 groomsmen. Neither of us cared about the numbers not matching.

We’ll each have 3, but I was happy having 2 bridesmaids and him having 3 groomsmen.  Definitely don’t think they need to be even.

Right now, it’s 4 bridesmaids, one 13yo junior bridesmaid, one female usher, one male usher, 1 flower girl, and 4 groomsmen–but Fiance said since my # of BMs just got bumped up (we had one girl who had major surgery and I wasn’t sure if she’d still be in the wedding, but she’s great now and all about it) he wants to have 5 guys too.  I don’t think we can possibly add any more girls though since their dresses take 3-4 months to come in.

Actually I have none. LOL I am having a Maid/Matron of Honor and a Matron of honor. My Fiance was the one who wanted it to be even and he is having a Best Man and a groomsman. I wish I could come up with another name for him.

3 and 3. I think uneven is fine, but I wouldn’t really want it that way myself.

I think unevenness looks better when there are more and when it’s only uneven by one (2 at the most). I think it would be a bit silly to have 2 Bridesmaid or Best Man and 8 Groomsmen or something. But 9 Bridesmaid or Best Man and 7 Groomsmen doesn’t look bad.

We will have 5 each (my 2 best friends and my 3 sisters for me, and FI’s are all friends with one who is a longtime friend of the family).  It just kind of worked out that ours were even, but I wouldn’t really care either way so long as it was relatively even, not like 11 and 2! haha.

We just had one maid of honor and one dude of honor.  Honestly, I think it is more important to have those people you are close to than to make the numbers match.  The amount of drama I’ve seen here when the bride chooses some BMs she doesn’t otherwise want just to make the numbers match is incredible!

I have 10 Bridesmaids and he has 5 Groomsmen…so we are definitely uneven, but we’ll make it work!We couldn’t imagine NOT having these people by our sides on our wedding day!

I have 2 MOHs and 6 BMs, 8 total!  It’s a big wedding party, but these are my best friends from all stages of my life and they have been great support during wedding planning.  Fiance also has 8, although 1 Groomsmen might not be able to make it due to his father’s health.

I don’t think the wedding party has to have the same number on each side; however, I recommend having a really great photographer who knows how to shoot uneven wedding parties.

I have 6 girls and he has 3 guys. I’m not worried about it — Fiance doesn’t have a lot of guy friends and I wasn’t going to keep my best friends out of my bridal party because of it! We’ll make it work! 🙂

I think it should be whomever you feel closest to. Dont add people just to “match” up genders. You can always have the Maid/Matron of Honor walk down by herself or have a groomsmen walk mom down the aisle if theyre are any uneven numbers. I think its a nice gesture to keep it small so that the people who are in your wedding party dont feel as though they were picked soley to keep numbers even.
