I have heard so many [dramatic] stories about choosing bridesmaids and maid of honor. How was it for you? How many BMs will you have and what did you consider when choosing a MOH? Was there fallout?
For me, I have 4 sisters and Fiance has 1 so I told them they were my bridesmaids [not asked, I told them] and they were delighted. I chose one of my sisters as Maid/Matron of Honor because she is really good at planning and she is the one closest to my Fiance. Easy Peesie.

angelaw2g: I have 6 BMs, including my sister and Future Sister-In-Law. Choosing the Maid/Matron of Honor was a no brainer! I knew way before we got engaged that I would want to ask both my sister and best friend so I have two MOHs. My sister and I are close but very different (I am a Type A planner, she’s very chill) and my best friend is a big planner. My best friend has been the one planning the shower and bach, while talking to my sister for ideas. They both seem really happy!

We had a small wedding party and knew we’d have a small wedding (ceremony, anyway). Our families are small, so this was easy – and we only had family.
- Sister – Maid/Matron of Honor (no brainer)
- DH’s sister – Bridesmaid or Best Man (DH is super close and we’ve gotten close)
- DH’s brother – Bridesmaid or Best Man (as it’s his brother, good relationship although not see often as sister)
- DH’s Brother-In-Law (sister hubby) – Groomsmen (DH knew him before his sister started dating him, so they’ve been good friends way longer than BIL’s to one another)
This worked for us, and I didn’t feel bad not having some friends.
The only drama I had was with my SIL who felt that she should be considered a co-MOH, as DH considered both of his guys his Bridesmaid or Best Man, but we had it listed as Bridesmaid or Best Man and Groomsmen for program sakes. I still considered my sister the only Maid/Matron of Honor, and asked that way. My sisters card said Maid/Matron of Honor, and SIL said Bridesmaid or Best Man. But, whatever.

my sister is my Maid/Matron of Honor. That’s it. If I had to choose another girl, it would be 5 and I couldn’t choose between them. So I just choose one and done. 🙂

- Wedding: May 2016 - Cherry Orchard
I thought about how many sincerely CLOSE friends i had and asked them. I ended up with my sister being Maid/Matron of Honor, 1 bridesmaid, and 1 bridesman. Fiance has a best man and 3 groomsmen.

I have three, one Maid/Matron of Honor and two bridesmaids. I didn’t want any feelings to be hurt when picking Maid/Matron of Honor (it was only between two people, the other one is a Bridesmaid or Best Man now), but truly, my very best friend has MY best interest at heart and always will. It was an easy decision to make when I realized she was always going to be my biggest cheerleader and make sure that my day goes the way I want it to!

I asked my best friend and my brother to be in my bridal party. I’ve always known my best friend would be my Maid/Matron of Honor so it was a very easy decision since no one else was even in the running!

I have two – one Maid/Matron of Honor and one Bridesmaid or Best Man. Maid/Matron of Honor was decided as our families have been friends since before we were born and we have that whole “no matter the distance, we’ll be close forever” thing goin’ on.
Fiance has a a few close guy friends but none that are really sticking out to him for Best Man, so I think he’s going to ask his sister and then one other groomsman (which works out well for me too because I’ve been feeling the pressure from Future Mother-In-Law to include FSIL)

I have 4 BMs plus my Maid/Matron of Honor. MY 4 BMs are my sorority sisters from college who I’m very close to. I couldn’t bring myself to choose between them for Maid/Matron of Honor and didn’t want any hurt feelings so I made my best friend since age 3 my Maid/Matron of Honor and it all worked out perfectly 🙂

We’re having one Maid/Matron of Honor and two “best men.” Picking my Maid/Matron of Honor was pretty easy– I don’t have any sisters and my cousin and I are just three months apart and have always been pretty close, so I knew I wanted it to be her. My FI’s best men are two of his close friends from high school.
There was no fallout from our choices. I think one of FI’s sisters wanted to be a bridesmaid, but I’m going to be including her in other ways so she’s okay with it.

I have four sisters, so I will have 7 bridesmaids in total, with two MOHs. I still have to tell my oldest friend that she is a co-MOH, but I’m sure it won’t be an issue.

I had 5 BM’s. I have no sisters and my husband is one of three boys so didn’t have to worry about including any family members. I chose my Maid/Matron of Honor pretty easily, my closest friend out of my ladies, but to be honest they all stepped up to the plate and contributed pretty evenly, it was awesome.

My maid of honor is my twin sister. My bridesmaids are my younger sister and 3 friends from college.

3 friends for bridesmaids, no Maid/Matron of Honor called out

3 bridesmaids including Maid/Matron of Honor, one bridesman.
I have three best friends, two men who I have been friend with since middle school and one female friend I met through my Fiance who I’ve become super close with. My Fiance loves my two male friends and wanted them on his side, we compromise and one male BFF became one of his Best Men and the other became my Bridesman. I picked my female BFF as my Maid/Matron of Honor because she can get things done! I trust her completly to make sure my day goes smoothly and everything is handled.
