I love the idea of a big bridal party. I’d be all for it if I had that many close girlfriends. However I’m in a super male dominated industry, so… 2. My sister and my high school best friend.

My wedding will be pretty formal, it’s at a private golf club and will be between 150-200 guests as well.

I am interested to see the poll results here. My fiancé wants to have more like 3 or 4 (he grew up in the same city so had 9 guys he has known forever), whereas I moved all over growing up. I was an Amoco brat. No matter how large the bridal party is, I think it should be people really special to you and not just number fillers.

I had six – four best friends and two sisters in law. It was perfect!

Real Simple Weddings magazine says 1 bridesmaid per 35-50 guests.  I think that’s about right.  So 4 or 5 BMs/GMs for a wedding with 200.

I’m probably going to have 8, 7 close friends plus Future Sister-In-Law. It works because SO has the same number including both his brothers and my oldest little brother (17 now, 19 when we get hitched ~ most likely lol)

I have so many close friends I just cut my party down to 2 BMs, my sis and his sis. Otherwise I would have had 9 myself. We are also far from our hometowns, so it’d be a lot of work for all involved, so we decided to keep it simple. I’d heard a good point about doing the math and if 20% of your guest list is in the wedding party that’s a lot. So general rule, the bigger the wedding the bigger the party. That being said, play by your own rules. All weddings are different.

In the UK it’s pretty uncommon to have more than 2 or 3, I’m thinking of a few more than that but haven’t decided yet.

I originally had 5, but this weekend I decided to add 4 more, so I will have 9. I was recently in a wedding it’s 9 bridesmaids and really the onlydifficulty was trying to determine dates that worked for everyone for dress shopping, the shower and bachelorette party, but if you plan far enough in advance, you shouldn’t run into too many issues.

ETA: we are planning on having 175-200 guests. It will be very formal.

I’m thinking of one, may add my future sister in law as well. In my culture, you pay for everything for the bridesmaid (shoes/ dress/ hair etc), and so it has simply come down to cold, hard finances
