We are doing the buffet style meal. My question is, if we have 158 confirmed guests (butknow there will be people that come without rsvping) do we need to order 158 servings of food, or can we get away with 150? We’ve heard there is always most likely food left over …

I could be wrong, but I think if you tell the caterers the wrong number of guests, you are cheating them. Even if that wasn’t the case, I still wouldn’t risk it. I would be pissed if I were sitting at the last table and I didn’t get food. I’d be even more pissed if I found out that the hostsintentionally under ordered. Give them an accurate number. It’s worth the peace of mind.

Tell your caterers at least the correct number of guests, or even round 160. I’d want to make sure my guests are fed, and not wind up that the last table doesn’t get food.

We have 136 people attending, and I told the caterer 146 people that way if extra people decide to attend that didn’t RSVP we have enough food. I would rather have too much food than not enough.

I did tell them 165 just in case people do show up. However I’m still having people RSVP 5 days before the wedding!!!! I’ve already put in my head count and even changed it a couple times due to this reason ….
