A tux usually has 1-2 buttons anything mostarts to look odd to me and more than 3 on a suit of any type is to many in my opinion even if you’re a 7’5″ nba player or something. But people do all kinds of stuff that looks weird to me at weddings lol.

I only had a wants for my own and my guys attire

    1. Would prefer not to wear a tux since probably will wear it . But I would if my bride felt strongly about it.

    2. I don’t want to rent. This is just me, I have had enough with polyester poorly tailored tuxes but sure they all bad and I wouldn’t expect my guys to buy a tux.

    3. Dark suits preferred 2 button over 3, only single breasted

    4. If you ask me to wear a teal vest I’ll leave you. Lol not really but we may have had our first real fight if she felt strongly about this. . Good for us we both want something classic, timeless and that did not look like  junior prom 😛

Stick with 1-2 buttons you’ll appreciate it even more when looking at your pictures 20 years from now.

Definitely stick with 1-2 buttons max. Otherwise you are likely to look at your pictures a few years on and think “what were we thinking? He appears to be wearing a costume…” Unless you are planning a costume wedding, of course!

Classic styles always look better and suit everyone best. I still recall my neice’s wedding when my deeply conservative Brother-In-Law was forced into a 4 button, shiny light grey morning suit with a Nehru collar. This unfortunately over-styled outfit made all the worse by being topped off with a pink satin cravat. He felt ridiculous and by golly, he looked it.  Even the younger and more confident groomsmen looked ever so slightly like extras from a Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

One or two buttons is correct.  One is most correct.  Three is one made from a suit pattern (same with a high buttoning five button vest).   Four or more is just ridiculous, and should never be worn, suit or Tuxedo.

I generally agree with Duncan. 1 button is classic. 2 button tuxedos are generally made from regular business suit patterns. If you’re doing a 90s throwback wedding, by all means go with 3 buttons, but otherwise I’d avoid it.
