I used to work with a lady who had a ring like that. It was 1.2-1.25, so that’s my guess. It’s very pretty!!

Do you know ?  And this is merely a Guessing Game ?

OR…

Do you truly NOT KNOW.

There is a way to figure it out that is pretty accurate… by using the dimensions of the stone

A 1 Carat Marquise will measure out to aprox 10 mm x 4.75 mm

A 1.2 Carat Marquise will measure out to aprox 10.5 mm x 5 mm

A 1.5 Carat Marquise will measure out to aprox 11 mm x 5.2 mm

And a 2 Carat Marquise will measure out to aprox 12 mm x 6 mm

You can find such info on various diamond websites… here is the link to one = http://www.ajediam.com/Marquise_diamond_sizes.html

Hope this helps,

TO – CheshireCat:  In that case, my info / link above will give you a ball-park idea.

I also suggest that you take it to a Jeweller you trust, and have it appraised so you’ll know everything there is to know about the ring for sure (you’ll need the appraisal to have it insured anyhow… which definitely needs to be done if it isn’t already)

Hope this helps,

TO – CheshireCat:  Hmmm, guessing here what the problem might be…

Most rulers, tape measures are in cms (1 inch = 2.54 cm)

The mms, are the little lines in between (tenths of a cm)

As I said it will only give you a ball-park estimate.  Because the measurements I gave above are for an IDEAL CUT.  Size can also depend on the quality of the cut (depth / proportions).

For more accurate info, you really need to get it appraised.

@CheshireCat:  You should use the mm sidee and measure the longest distance from point to point and the longest distance from between the prongs to between the prongs.

TO – CheshireCat:  3 Carats and $ 52,300 makes sense.

Blue Nile.ca * says… that for a Marquise Stone that they are currently selling in that size range (3.00 to 3.05 Carats) would be valued somewhere at $ 20,922 CDN thru to $ 178,304 CDN depending on the Grade / Quality (the 4Cs)

They currently list 8 such Marquises… of which 5 fall into your price range… $ 20,992 CDN thru to $ 42,008 CDN

Blue Nile IMO is always a great website for Diamond Info / comparisons.

*NOTE – As a Canadian, I can only access Blue Nile.ca (and not Blue Nile.com).  Although our two currencies are pretty close these days… US & CDN Dollars.

Hope this helps,
