Quick question – we’re doing these long great family-style tables (about 24 people per table) and I was curious how often you would put a centerpiece…I’ve heard ‘every 5 feet’ floating around, but that seems a bit sparse. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!

I don’t know of any formula, but the desk I’m at is a little over 5′ long and that doesn’t seem like it would be bad. It is less than your ‘wingspan’ and I think a lot depends on how big of a centerpiece you were thinking of. Just one or two flowers per vase would be a bit sparse, but bigger ones would be fine.
If it was me I would set out vases about 5 ft apart on the floor just to get an idea of what it would look like.

i would recommend doing decor that’s less like "centerpieces" and more a flowing decor up and down the tables. (different size vases, candles, etc, in small groupings or a line)
The first picture is from This Young House’s outoor wedding decor
The second is Mrs. Espressos long table decor…which she posted about here and here
and there are MANY more ideas for long tables out there!

Every 5 feet does seem a little sparse, but I guess it depends on how big the centerpieces are as well. Perhaps you could add some candles in between as well to keep the eye moving as it goes along the table.
