How long did you take for your wedding/honeymoon? I plan on getting married 11/13/2015, and taking 10 days off work. The Thursday/Friday of the week I get married, the whole next week, and then M-Tu-W before Thanksgiving. It comes out to 10 business days to take off, but because of Thanksgiving Break (I get Th/Fri off), I will be out of work about 2 full weeks. I work for a large corporation in NYC, fyi. I’ve already asked to carry over a week of vacation from this year to next to use for the wedding/honeymoon. I have the paid vacation time, so that’s not the issue. It’s just how long I will be continuously out of work for.
Does this sound too long to you? How long was yours? How many days did you take off work? How did you approach it with your employer, and how did they react?

We took 2.5 weeks off for the wedding, 1 before, and 10 days for the honeymoon after. My employer is perfectly fine with us taking our vacation whenever since things are typically not time critical. I’ve taken 3 weeks vacations the last few years too.

We’re taking like a month off. It’s a destination wedding so we are arriving a week before the wedding and flying out for our honeymoon. I dont think my employer will have a problem. They will know with ample time.

I’m taking off a week for the wedding its Destination Wedding. then a few months were taking off 10 days for the honeymoon to break up the time. I can’t take that much off at once plus my wedding is a vacation . Whatever works for you is good. 🙂

I’m a teacher, so I can’t take long breaks off like that which is why we’re getting married the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I get the entire week off anyway, and my Fiance gets W-F off for that week. I’m also taking the Friday before and the Monday after we get back off, so I’m technically only having to take 2 days off.

MY wedding was on a Saturday. I took off the Friday Before and the Monday Afterwards. We didn’t go anywhere for a Honeymoon. We just enjoyed the time together
We are planning a vacation for 2015.

i took 12 days off from work for my wedding and honeymoon. i’m a federal employee and the government was shutdown for the 3 weeks prior, so i ended up having 5 weeks total.
my coworker went on a 3 week vacation a few months ago. he just asked his supervisor if it was ok to take off that long.

I took off 2 days prior to the wedding and 3 weeks after for my Honeymoon (Europe). I saved up my vacation time for 2 years!

Mrsjax213: I plan on taking 9 days total, not inlcuding weekends, of course. I’m taking off the Thursday and Friday before the wedding, the entire week after, and Monday and Tuesday of the following week. So I’ll be off from work for just shy of two weeks.

I took 1.5 days off before my wedding (half day Thurs and all day Fri). We are taking our honeymoon 8 months later, so the time is separated, but I have 11 business days off work (2 week honeymoon).

Mrsjax213: I will be off 23 calendar days (I don’t work a standard M-F schedule.) My employer will be fine. We’re a 24 hr place, so when my group isn’t in, someone else is to take care of everything. They won’t miss me. 🙂

My wedding is a week from today, and I am taking all of next week off… and the following Monday. I had the time to use, so that is why. Today is my last day of work until the 21st.
We aren’t going on a honeymoon until early 2015, but I’m sure that will be a week since Fiance (then hubby) will not want to be gone too long.

I will be taking the week of the wedding off, then back to work for 2 weeks then off on the honeymoon for 1 month. We have the 2 week gap because airline tickets are cheaper if we wiat the 2 weeks.
My employer doesn’t have an issue with it especially since it is in the middle of our fiscal year so there is no deadlines or audits so it is our slow time.

- Wedding: December 2014 - Temple Beth Am/Love is Blind
Mrsjax213: I will be taking off six days. We are both just starting out and we are in the legal field so we didn’t want to take off too much time. Thankfully we are getting married at the end of December so it is a slower time and there are already a couple of days off built in.

About 3 weeks. I wanted a few days for decompress before the wedding and have the cushion in case any last timnute hiccups happened 9and they did) so I could take care of it. We ledt for a 2 week honeymoon the day after the wedding weekend and had 2 days off to just settle back in before we went back to work on the Monday morning after.
