The whole week! The whole week! The whole week!
We married on a Saturday and I took W-F off work. I was wishing I had requested the entire week off – it would have been SO helpful (I had a family emergency 2 weekends prior the wedding, so all the things I had planned for that weekend were pushed back, making everything leading up to the wedding absolutely CRAZY) – and I was super planned out/organized. I really would have loved the extra time off work….

We got married on a Saturday and I left work 3 hours early the Tuesday before. SO I had 3 hours off Tuesday then Weds-Fri off. I think it was a good amount of time!

I strongly recommend to take off as many days as you can. People told me to take the week prior off and I remember thinking to myself…what for? It ended up they were right. I did not have one single DIY project or fam in town, but still was racing till the minute I left to get to the wedding. Things come up, last minute details, laundry, packing for the honeymoon, running errands, etc… I regret not taking off more than a week and being so frantic.

I took off two days before the wedding, and that was plenty of time for me. I’m glad I didn’t waste extra vacation days.

I am off the whole summer so not a problem for me but my Fiance might not be able to get off that many days. He needs to get off at least 3 days before and 2 days after. We might hold off for our honeymood for the next summer since he wants to go on a 9 day cruise in Asia. Hopefully we can go to Vegas or somewhere for 2-3 days at least this year.

I took off the week before we left for our wedding. I had a lot of last minute stuff to do and I didn’t want to stress. We also had to pack for our Destination Wedding wedding and for our honeymoon plus get all the wedding stuff together which is why I took so long off. I think if you wedding was at home I would have only needed about 3 days before to get things together. I’d reccommend taking no less than 3 days.

My wedding was on a Sunday and I took worked a half day on Thursday and took Friday off. I didn’t want to burn through my vacation days. I will say my day and a half off was pretty hectic with wedding chores but I’m glad I didn’t take a lot of time off.

I took the whole week off before. My hubby took off work starting on Wednesday. I think it worked out really well.

I had a Friday and took the whole week off. I just did last minute chores and lazed around in the pool and visited with people as they came into town. It was great.

I saved all of my paid time off that I could this whole year so I had almost 3 weeks available. So I took one week off before & 1 week off after the wedding. I’m so glad I did!!

- Wedding: June 2011 - Calgary Opera Centre
I work on a contract basis, and my last contract runs out on May 31. My wedding is June 25, and I’m considering not taking any more work for the month of June. Or maybe if something came up for just the first week, I’d do that. It’d put a bit of a strain on our financials, but we aren’t paying for the whole wedding ourselves. I think I’d be super-relaxed and prepared if I did that.

I really only needed 3 days before but I took the whole week of the wedding off since my brother was coming in early.

I want to take off a week before (destination wedding and we will be celebrating with friends and family beforehand) and a week after the wedding for honeymooning!

I’m a teacher, so my Thursday wedding will be preceded by two months off. Perfect for all those DIY projects I know I’m going to leave until the last minute!
