- Wedding: September 2012
So, our venue includes a plated dessert as part of the dinner (apple crumble, creme brulee, that sort of thing). Originally, my Fiance wanted to be in charge of the cake and he wanted this white chocolate raspberry cake from a bakery that he had for a birthday. It was AMAZING. So we spoke to the venue and they were going to plate it for dessert with coulis and gelato in lieu of their own dessert. (Please keep in mind our wedding is small and low-key, so we don’t need dessert and a late night table so at this point it’s either dessert OR cake).
Well, we went to sample the cake he wanted and it sucked. So today we tried a whole bunch of cupcakes from local places and none were too impressive. He is so bummed. I suggested that we just go with the venue dessert and have warm donuts or cookies to go later in the evening as a treat as guests are getting ready to leave.
Given the fact that the traditional “cake cutting” photo op is totally not important to us, do you think it’s weird to not have a cake? In the scheme of my life, a wedding cake really isn’t that important, and to be honest it’s so overpriced. But then sometimes I’m weird and maybe my guests will wonder where the cake is! LOL
