I have 7.  My two sisters are my maid & matron of honor.  One Bridesmaid or Best Man is FI’s little sister.  The other four are very close girlfriends.

I think I have seen people say that you having 1 per 50 guests you plan to invite.  I had 8 gm and 8 bm and I invited 150 guests to my wedding. Ehh, maybe it was a tad too big but I couldn’t decide who to get rid of.  Although, looking back two of my bm cancelled two days before the wedding. One was sick and one got in an accident. I think, if I could do it over again, I think I could have gone with only 6 bm. Although, I think my DH would have problems choosing only 6.

I really think it depends on the size of the wedding. 10 bridesmaids would look crazy at a wedding with 70 guests, but maybe not at a wedding with 500 guests. Personally I did not want more than five.

I had 4. I think it depends on the size of the wedding, the venue, your family, etc. to say how many is too many. We picked 4 each and that was plenty because it would have been too crowded to have more at our venue. I think more is fine, but sometimes I shake my head when I see 20 bridesmaids or something like that. I’ve just never understood how you could have that many truly close friends. I know some girls who have had tons because they were in a sorority and didn’t want to hurt feeling so it does make sense in that way. I still think I would prefer to share my special day with those closest to me. There is no way I have even close to 10+ “Best Friends.”

6 including my Maid/Matron of Honor.  I chose my sister and my 5 closest friends.  I chose the people that I truly would not enjoy my day without them there next to me!

The groom’s sisters are my bridesmaids, and my best friend is standing in as “man of honor” instead of “maid”.
