I’ve been to 7 which is a little crazy to say but I really wanted to see all my options.

I’m going back to one of the 7 to make my choice soon.

I dedicated one day to dress shopping…I had 3 stores I was visiting – with the last store being the one I was most confident about…turns out, I found my dress the first store, maybe 4th dress I tried on…not a lot of hemming and hawing…I went to the other stores simply because I had planned on it…didn’t see anything I liked, went back and bought the dress at the first store

I am not “plus sized”, but I am bigger than a lot of the samples – it was hard to envision what the dress would look like if I wasn’t pouring over, hanging out, squeezed in, etc…the dress I ended up with was “plus sized” and will be altered down (someone ordered it and didn’t take it…my good luck!!)

The first store I went to was a smaller, more boutique-y salon. I tried on 7 dresses there during my first time trying on dresses and found a “favorite” – but I wanted to take a little more time to look. I made an appointment to go back there a month later. However, in between I wanted to get myself in a few more dresses just for piece of mind. I made an appointment at a larger salon and tried on 8 dresses there (one of them being the favorite from the other store just so I could try it on again).

After that, I went back to the first store to either purchase the “favorite” or see if they could come up with anything to top it. I tried on maybe 3 or so additional dresses and fell in love with something new.

So, in the end, I went to 2 stores in 3 trips and tried on about 18 or so dresses before I found mine. ๐Ÿ™‚

Justadream209:  I had the same concern as you. I booked 2 salons in one day and made sure to try on different styles at each. We squeezed in an appointment at a 3rd salon at the end of that same day and at that last appointment I tried on about 4-5 dresses generally in the same style that I had settled on, which did get pretty confusing. I wouldn’t have wanted to keep looking at more stores after that confusion started to settle in because I knew it would only get worse. Fortunately when we found my dress at the 3rd store I knew immediately and didn’t try on any more dresses after that. Stopped looking, deleted all my dress pics off pinterest, and everything. Haven’t struggled with dress regret at all so far ๐Ÿ™‚

Booked appointments at 2, but only ended up going to one. Tried on 5 dresses and picked the first.

Absolutely no regrets – I love my dress. It was 100% the right choice ๐Ÿ™‚

I looked at lots of designers online first though

I searched A LOT in the Internet and I had exactly the idea of what I wanted. I ended up going to 3 boutiques but only in the first 2 I tried dresses (the 3rd was a mess OMG ). I found my dress on the 2nd boutique.

I highly suggest searching a lot online.

I am one of those odd birds who bought the first dress she tried on. I had one more appointment to keep with my maid of honor, so we did go to a second place, but ultimately bought the first dress.

I went to 3.  One had designer samples…so I could get a higher end dress, for half the price.  One was a boutique store…so I had the fancy “here’s your mimosa while you shop” experience…and one was David’s bridal—which was so crazy busy I didn’t even try anything on because it was chaos.

My biggest advice…once you buy—STOP LOOKING!  Stop looking online…stop walking by windows…stop going in any stores where you might see something that gives you dress regret.  ๐Ÿ™‚

Justadream209:  I went to one.

I honestly hadn’t started looking – I kept meaning to on my days off from work, but other things came up every time. My mom wanted to have that mom/daughter dress shopping moment with me. I’m a tomboy and super picky and it takes me days to find a dress I like for normal wear, so I figured I would indulge her, hate life for the 90 minute appointment, and move on.

The second dress I tried on, I straight up told my mom I didn’t want to take it off. It wasn’t a SYTTD “this is it!” moment, but it made me feel pretty, which is not something I’m used to. I’m excited about it.

It was a relief, because I was seriously thinking I was going to be trying one a hundred dresses and finding one I only liked “okay”.

I went to 5 and booked 7 but after store 5 I got overwhelmed and my mom wisely told me since I had about 4 serious contenders there was no point in looking further. I think if you can keep it under 4 you should. Honestly there are a million beautiful dresses out there that you also look great in, and none are exactly the same but many are similar. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the small details. I also strongly reccomend takin. Pictures, and limiting the number of people who’s opinions you ask.
