    I don’t know why wedding dress designers have such awful sizing!  I’m normally a 7/8 in juniors or a size 6 in womens.  My dress is a size 12!!!  I could have probably fit into a 10, but my “girls” needed a little more room!

    I wear a 12 in misses and a 11/13 in juniors. My Allure gown from Bridal Warehouse is a size 14…but it is a corset back. I wanted to order a size 12 b/c I knew I was going to try to lose weight but the consultant wouldn’t allow it, well she talked me out of it. She said that because it’s corset, even if I lose weight it would still fit. I have lost 12lbs since purchasing. And when I tried it on just a few days ago, I was scared that It was too big on the sides and I would need costly alterations. However, my co-worker came by on Saturday and tied me tightly into the dress and it fits perfectly…it just needs to be hemmed a bit.

    Im a size 2, but was suggested to order a size 6 (due to bust size fitting chart)  by the girl at the bridal salon, now Im concern about the alteration fees. Ughh Anybody with a similar experience? Did you regret going with the suggested size because alteration costs?

    I went three sizes up, mainly because of my bust measurement, but when the dress came in it really fit perfectly aside from needing to be a little shorter. I was worried it would be loose in other areas since aside from my bust I measured closer to the next size down everywhere else but it worked out well so far! I haven’t gone in for an official fitting yet (just tried it on when it came in) so we’ll see if that changes. I’m trying to get in shape and lose some weight but for me personally I’ve lost around 15-20 lbs in the past and it was not enough to change my clothing size, my body seems pretty set at keeping me around this size.

    In some respects I went up a size, in others I really didn’t. Depending on the clothing store, I wear anything from a 00 to a 2 (00 or 0 at mass retailers like Gap, Express, etc…2 at certain smaller shops or shops aimed at a younger crowd). My bridal gown is a 2. So it really wasn’t that big of an increase to me.

    My dress is a Casablanca and not from David’s Bridal.

    I’m convinced that the up-sizing phenomenon of wedding gowns is actually due to the prevalence of vanity sizing at stores. For example, I have been the same height, weight, and measurements since I was 20 years old. Over the last 6 years I’ve gone from wearing a size 4 at Express to wearing a size 00. And I have not lost weight. The vanity size thing is really rampant at some shops. Bridal designers probably don’t keep up with vanity sizing, rather they have been using the same sizes for ages…so that could be where some of the disconnect is.

    @Bainise2013:

    I wear a 14 but they ordered my dress in a 20 which was kind of UGH. However, I found Alfred Angelo’s sizing to be fairly spot on when I was trying on their gowns. The dress I found is a Maggie Sottero and gorgeous so as long as it fits and looks awesome on my bod, I’m fine with it.

    I’m an 18 in street clothes, and my DB gown is a 22 but is also rather loose and will need to be taken in.

    I typically wear a size 10 (US), and had to order a size 18 Lazaro gown.  His sizes are a little bit unrealistic to begin with, and my hips nudged me up from a 16 to an 18.  But hey, if we only went by my waist size, I’d be a 12 LZ, so I suppose there are worse things that could happen, right?  🙂

    I wear a size 16 (US).  My gown was a 22.  I measured a 16 in the waist and hips and a 22 in the bust (Casablanca).  My gown had to be taken in everywhere – including the bust!
