I went to a store in my city that I knew would have nice dresses and ended up buying the first dress I tried on. I went to two more shops…. at the 2nd shop I didn’t even try anything on because the dresses looked kinda cheap and didn’t hold a candle to the first one. The 3rd shop was just a trip with my mom and sisters so my mom could have the experience of watching me try on dresses. It was a fancy shop in the wealthy area of town, and I knew their prices would be crazy. I only tried on 3 dresses there, because I didn’t want to waste too much of the saleswoman’s time. The shop itself was gorgeous and understated at the same time – something I knew my mom would love. She was so happy that day. Afterwards I took them to the first shop to buy the first dress and everyone agreed it was the best one.

RunningBookworm : Yes, the first two shops were alone, which is how I’d always planned it. I’m very decisive with any clothes I buy, and really don’t need/want any help or opinions. As mentioned, the third shop was just so my mom could have the experience of watching me try on dresses.

I went to two stores and tried 5-6 dresses on at each. I was kind of torn between two, but had asked one of my bridesmaids to take pictures of different angles for each dress, and seeing them side by side really helped!

RunningBookworm : I tried at least 25 dressess at 5 different stores. I went alone to the 4th and 5th stores The 5th store is where I found my dress, so then I had my mom come back with me to see it. I was getting frustrated after trying on so many dresses and I posted on here about what I was looking for. Someone suggested a dress collection and I saw something I liked, and there was a store an hour away that carried it. And that was the 5th store I went to!

I went to a BUNCH of stores. 3 with my mother, 3 with my FMIL/FSIL, and 2 with my very best friend. I wanted to include all the important people in my life, but also I wanted to make sure I found the right dress. I ended up finding my dream dress on consignment on sale!

My first store I went to with my mother.
Then I went to a store with the whole crew – my sis, SIL, mom, and Mother-In-Law
Then I went to 2 other stores alone, and the first store again, alone.
Finally I went back to the second store, tried on my favorite dress there again, and bought it.
So 6 appointments, and countless dresses. Thankfully, I did not have to pay for any appointments, and could try on as many dresses and I liked.
