So I know I’m picky, but sometimes when I tell people I tried on about 25 wedding dresses before deciding to go custom they look at me like I’m crazy for trying on that many dresses. I just wanted to see how crazy 😛
ETA: And if you rented or borrowed a dress, just go with whenever you committed 🙂

I dont think that is crazy, I would say I tried on about 15 dresses before i found my dress! =] And then I tried on like 3 more after I found it, because I wanted to keep my appointment lol

I tried on one on a whim. I was engaged but hadn’t started looking I tried on one so that my mom would stop bugging me about looking at dresses. I tried it on and broke down crying, when it went on sale a month later I bought it. Eleven months til my wedding and I still stare at the bag is disbelief that I own something this beautiful.

Ive tried on about 16 or so at 3 different appointments and still haven’t found “the one”. Hopefully at my next appointment! (finger crossed).

The first dress I tried on was the one, but I tried a handful more on, just to confirm these feelings 🙂

None! I bought a sample sale dress from etsy that I just fell in love with, and it was the perfect dress for me, all throughout my 1.5 year engagement!

I tried on 5 and bought #3. I don’t really think there’s “the dress” and after like 5 they all start to look like just pretty white dresses.

I tried on about 10-12 dresses I always “dreamed” I would love and was kind of forced into trying on a mermaid gown (i said NO mermaid or fit n flair) and that was the one I picked.
Now that I think of it….I should have tried on MORE mermaid gowns after that but they were limited in what they had. Eh – she’ll do!

@ladyamalthea: I am in the process of dress shopping. I would estimate I’ve tried on 30-50 dresses. I don’t think I’m being picky at all, and neither are you! I have some favorites that I keep thinking about, but for me, I like to mull over my choices before making a decision like that.

@penguinbee: Good luck!!!
In no way do I regret the number of dresses I tried on, because they’re how I learned exactly what I want.
@ImmaBee: That’s a lot of dresses! I get wanting to have a good idea of all your options, but personally I got tired of the process. Just curious, would you consider getting a custom dress? I was able to figure out exactly how I want every aspect to look like, but I understand that not everyone feels comfortable trusting a sketch.

Mine was actually the very first dress I tried on. Coincidentally, when I started wedding dress shopping I had 3 dresses in mind that I really liked from online and the dress I got is one of the 3! I did go on and tried 12-15 other dresses (just to see and also to have fun with it since I figured I am only wedding dress shopping once in my life, lol). But every dress I tried on didn’t give me “that feeling” that The One did. 🙂

it was the second dress in the second shop I went to, but I’m not sure how many I tried on in the first shop. I then went on to another three shops afterwards just to make sure there wasn’t anything better suited/actually in my budget haha. overall I must have tried on about 40 – 50 dresses, but I found the one pretty early on.

The third one for me. The first two was in person and the third and final one was online.

I tried on 5 dresses in total, all at the same boutique, but knew straight away that I wanted the second one I tried on – & then ordered 🙂

I tried on about 15-20 dresses, in 2 different salons. The first time I went it was more of a “let’s see what styles I like” trip. I wasn’t allowed to take pictures, which annoyed me, but I got a good idea of what I did and did not like. The second time I went I had a particular dress in mind. I still tried on a pretty good amount at that salon but I ended up with the dress I had my eye on the whole time.
