Also… yeah, I’ve heard/read that the average is about SIX. I was like… SIX?! Are you kidding me??!? And then beyond that, it’s generally not beyond like 10. I blew those numbers waaayy out of the water. lol

i tried on 30-40 at four different salons. The first trip I made was to David’s Bridal,  where I tried on the dress that most closely resembles the bespoke dress I am going to wear. so i guess you could say i “found my dress” after only a few try-ons!

@bttrflyxs:  I hated everything at David’s Bridal. haha. I didn’t even bother trying any on. Do you look online? I’d try to find something in a picture you like and then find a dress shop that carries it. If dress shops are way out of your budget, you could always order a duplicate from China that would probably be pretty close, for a near David’s Bridal price?

Pfsshh. If you can pay $1k, go to a dress shop! lol. Don’t mess around with David’s. They also spam your email like whoa. They’re good for bridesmaids dresses though!

Maybe check out some dress shops’ websites around you and see what designers they carry, then check the designer’s sites, and go from there. I got to a point where I’d call the dress shop and ask if they carried the specific dress. They’d be all “No but we have ones that are very similar!” and oh man, I can’t TELL you how many times I heard that! Or “oh this dress is almost exactly the same…” And I just wanted to say, “But no! It’s NOT the same. If it was, it wouldn’t be a different dress, would it?” But I didn’t.

But I feel you. I HATED most dress shops because they would try to get me to try on stuff I didn’t care about, or let me try on the freakin’ thing myself. I didn’t want to stand in front of anyone in my underwear! They’d be all “I won’t look!” and I wanted to say “I know you won’t try to look, but you’ll still SEE. And I don’t want you to SEE.” Wear tights. lol

Trying on is important though. Those suckers look way different in person than in pictures. o_O I’d just try to narrow things down as much as possible before going into another shop… or maybe the Costco dresses will work for you. That’s such a good idea. haha.

13 stores, at least 100.  My dress was the first dress in the last store.

I have been to about 6-7 dress shops. At each one I tried on any where from 5-8 dresses.

The second dress I had tried on ended up being my dress. But, I had to weed through everything else first to know.

went to two shops and only tried on 5 or 6 dresses total, I think.   I decided that the last dress I tried on was the one!

I went to two different stores – Kenneth Pool/Amsale and Kleinfelds. At Kennth Pool, I tried on about 6 or 7 dresses. At Kleinfelds, I tried on about 12-15 dresses. My dress is the last one I put on. As soon as it was laced up, I knew it was for me and didn’t want to take it off.
