I haven’t had my wedding yet, but I would probably average 4-5 drinks per person for 4 hours maybe? That may be low balling it a little, but then again, not every person is going to drink which will give those that do have extras

I am budgeting 4 drinks per person…we are having a one hour cocktail hour (included) and the reception will be 4 hours. I know some people will drink more than that in the4hours, some won’t drink anything. I will be able to let you know the actual numbers in a month and a half 🙂

1 per hour is what I am estimating. We are having 1 hr cocktail, wine on tables for dinner and then 4.5 hrs of reception before the bar closes. I’m estimating 5 drinks per person, although I know most people will not drink that much and a few will drink more.

We’re going open-bar so I can’t wait to see the bill for that one.

But when I go to weddings, I have maybe 2 drinks during cocktail hour, one during dinner, then sometimes I can go buck wild at the reception and have 5 or 6.  Depends on the situation.  People like me might average out Great Grandma Jean who doesn’t drink.

I believe that 3 per person tends to be a norm. There are LOTS of good calculators out there for bar stocking. Some will drink more than their 3, but some won’t drink any or will have 1 so it evens out. Our venue actually goes per head (we hvae to use their wine) And requires a purchase of 1 bottle per two adult guests so that’s about… 2.5 or so drinks per guest.

Here’s a calc:

We budgeted it to be about 3-4 per person and ended up having to go to a cash bar for the last hour!!! So really we should have budgeted for 5-6, insane. We had cocktail hour, sit down dinner and dancing. From 6:30 to 10:30.

I know everything says the average is 4 drinks/person, but I would budget for more than that. I’m pretty sure I had about 5 or 6 glasses at my own wedding. Friends and family really let loose at ours and definitely had more than 4.

I of course had no idea most people were drinking this way until talking to friends and family after and hearing stories about the awful hangover they had the next day and/or the porcelain throne they were praying to.
