I’d say we registed for about 50 things… not totally sure i didn’t really count. We’re inviting about 100 ppl.. we’d really rather get gcards and cash since we’re moving across the country one month after the wedding, but i couldn’t think of a polite way to ask! I figured if our registry started to run super low I could just add a few things later…  also check out this thread http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/how-many-gifts-did-you-register-for 🙂 hope that helps! Have fun!

I was told that it should be 2-3 items per guest so that they have plenty of selection and that there are extra gifts to choose for any showers, or other events where gifts will be given.

Normally, most online registries will offer suggestions and guidelines to help answer questions like these, even if you don’t meet in person with a staff member in the store. The word on our Macy’s registry is that you ought to register for almost two gifts per person you invite, regardless of whether they are likely to attend and regardless of whether they are a couple with someone else. That way, as verosara said, the guests have a variety of options and aren’t limited to just picking whatever’s left after most guests have chosen their gift.

No prob girly! I always just search in the little google bar up on the right. Sometimes they’re like a year old, but the info is still good 🙂

Register at least several weeks before you first shower. Don’t register to far in advance as some stuff might be discontinued if you do it too far ahead.  If you think you are being given an engagement party you might want to start at least a small registry before that occurs as some people will get gifts for those.

I have a registry at BB&B, Pottery Barn, and Amazon.com. BB&B suggested 3 gifts per guest, if thats helpful. We honestly didn’t go by that – we just registered for items we need and/or want in a wide variety of price ranges to accommodate our guests. We’ll keep an eye on the registry, and add more items if it seems like everything in a certain price range is being snatched up. We’ve also included gift cards as an option, so if it turns out we’ve registered for too much and we don’t get everything that we really needed, hopefully we can use those gift cards to complete some missing items.

I guess we could have been more scientific or deliberate, but it was more fun for me to do it this way Smile Oh, and to your other question, we didn’t do separate registries for showers. I’m only having one, and its the week before the wedding anyway. People can go to the same registry to buy both wedding and shower gifts. In fact, we may even leave it up until it expires so that our families can go there for future birthday or Christmas (or even anniversary!) gifts as well.

Hope that helps!
