Wow, this is interesting!! I am sending out 55 STD, followed  by 55 formal invites. Being a destination wedding I am hoping at least 25 will attend! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Rdb89:  Were having a semi Destination Wedding in our home state, about 50% of guests from out of state and another 25% with at least a two hour drive. We had about a 50% rsvp accept rate, which surprised us, we thought we’d have more, but that’s the way it goes! Saving some money now!

invited 30 immediate family and friends (that number includes significant others) and they are all coming except 2 who are still trying their trip. we could have invited more but out wedding is an hour away from the hotel so we had to get transportation for everyone for that day and that is costing us almost another grand so we kept it at that. Plus with our group of 30 almost everyone is familiar so we can go with the flow and if my fiance and I want time to ourselves we won’t feel bad like we have to entertain everyone the whole time

we had a domestic destination wedding that was minimum 6 hr drive, 6 hr flight plus 1.5 hr drive, or 3 hour (drive/flight combo) in an expensive area.

Our venue capacity was about 130, we wanted 100-120, we invited 222 ppl total overall (in rounds as we received declines), and 100 total attended.

  • over 70% of ppl invited lived out of state (at least 5 hr flight away).  (so 30% invited lived in state)
  • Over 60% of the ppl attending lived out of state.  (40%, or 40 guests, were from in-state. about 20 were close relatives.)
  • Over 35% of ppl invited from out of state came to the wedding (under 65% declined).
  • Over 60% of ppl in-state came to the wedding (under 40% declined).
  • these numbers would’ve been pretty different if there wasn’t drama w/my husband’s family (all out of state)- because of that drama, only his immediate family attended- the other relatives and family friends either weren’t invited or declined or no-showed.

We had a semi-destination wedding – it was in our home state but at least a 3-4 hour drive for most of our guests.  Out of the 214 people invited, 138 RSVPd yes and we estimate about 125 actually showed up the day of.  That’s right around 60% acceptance rate which I think is common for destination weddings, maybe a little higher.  I think it just depends on when & where the wedding is and ease of travel.
