It’s according to the guests that you have. Even if it was only 1 guest – my 89 year old mother, who refuses to get hearing aids, you would need a microphone, for her to hear.

We had an indoor wedding with 42 guests. Our DOC and venue coordinator said we didn’t need a microphone for such a small group. We were married in a chapel. Honestly, everyone could hear just fine. All of our guests said they were able to hear everything just fine.

I think it will be fine without the microphone. Plus the ceremony would sound pretty solemn. When you look in each other’s eyes and really pouring your heart out while exchanging vows. Try not to cry too much, then the guests will also cry and everyone gets so emotional, they won’t probably hear you. Just kidding. So happy and excited for you! All the best.

My husband was pretty chill about all the wedding stuff, but for whatever reason he put his foot down about not having a mic. We had an outdoor (non windy) ceremony with 160 guests, no mics, and everyone could hear well (I asked around!). Our officiant is a theater actor and is good at projecting, and we made an effort to project our vows. That’s definitely key.
