I just did a count on my guest list (bridal party inlcuded) and I’m at 204 (Holy S**t!) I know there more than likely won’t be that amount acutally attending the reception, what has been your expierence?? How many guest did you invite and how many actually showed up??
On a side note, I never in a million years would have thought that I would have a list of over 100 people……..crazy what is in your head and what actually comes out!

We could have easily invited 200+, but due to budget and venue restrictions, we invited 152.
6 people declined, so we had 148 in total (including us).

We invited 81 and 60 people are coming. That’s almost a 25% decline rate for us.
We were actually shocked as nearly 90% of the guest list has to travel by plane to get to us. We were expecting/hoping for a number around 45 people. Oh well – more the merrier!

@MrsFarm0619: keeping in mind that a vast majority of our guests were out of state-we invited 170 and had about 100.

@MrsFarm0619: so, we invited a lot of out-of-staters, so our numbers are a bit skewed. but, we invited 189 (around 60 OOS), had 113 yes’s, and 109 showed up.

Not married yet, but we are inviting 300. But our problem is the opposite… probably 400 will show up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! African events are always large, as people will bring friends and family along.

Our guest list is 125 but we are hoping no more than 50 show! Wedding will be in Punta Cana. Most guests are coming from out of town (mostly the US). A few are local though, since FI’s family is from DR and some of them still live there.
(Didn’t vote since I’m not married yet)

I have a friend who’s daughter was married on Cape Cod a few years ago. 200 invited, 198 attended.

Inviting 190, and hoping only 175 show up. With our luck, 200 will end up being there…

Inviting 98. Hoping for closer to 85. One can dream and hope right?

We invited 265, but thats with 40 out of state plus about 65 international ( my fiance is from UK but we live in NYC). Had a guarantee if 150 for the reception contract, 5 weeks out it is looking like 155.
I really thought we’d be around 180 but most if the international invites can’t make it.

20% decline rate – i’ve been told this is a standard/typical number for any event
We had a further 5 people pull out after numbers were finalised (and seating charts/name cards made.. grrr!!!)

We were right at 148, we had a 150 max. Now we are at 170, but we expect about 120.

I don’t really understand inviting more people than you want because what happens if everyone says yes, my fiancee and I have written down the most important people to us and that equals to 75 people – we expect about 65-70 people to show but that is due to travel. Don’t invite people out of courtesy it is a waste of their time and a waste of your money.

- Wedding: June 2013 - Upstate NY
@MrsFarm0619: 70% of our guests were very local and we still had 13% or so not come
