We are inviting about 500 people to our wedding. I’m a little worried that everyone will show up. We know of several families that most likely will not be coming as they live far away. However, I would still like to know a rough estimate of how many of those people I should expect to come? I’m thinking 200-250?

@caiteliz23: Does your venue have a limit?

@caiteliz23: I think that I’ve read on here that u figure 20-25% invited will not show up.

@caiteliz23: I would expect 375-400. For only 1/2 or less to show up would be ludacris
Unless a large percent of who you invited is people you dont know well or people that live in another country.

I’d expect at least 400. We’re inviting 350 and it seems about 325 are coming

I have heard expect around a 20% decline, unless its a very small (fewer declines) or very large (more declines) wedding. That is just what I have read in wedding planning books, so don’t quote me on it. We are inviting around 200 and expecting around 150-175 to show up. Our venue only holds 200.
One note of caution on overinviting – my sister only had 10 people out of 150 decline and she freaked out. Her venue only held 140 (fire code), so she was panicking a few weeks before thinking she would have to disinvite someone. Thankfully, she only had 138 show up (a couple cancelled last min as well) and everything was fine. But don’t assume “courtesy” invites won’t come!

Our venue holds about 400. We can think of probably at least 50 that won’t come as some are elderly. Fiance has a huge family, though, a lot of which we don’t know so we are hoping that some of them don’t show up. It isn’t a huge deal if 400 decide to come because we can change our food up to a week before and have planned for extra seating. We may need to cut down the guest list, though!

85% of our guests RSVP’d yes and all those that did showed up at the wedding. So I would probably expect at least 400 unless you’re inviting a large amount of people who live really far away or out of the country.

We had 80% positive RSVPs and only 20% decline.

@caiteliz23: you have to expect at least a 15-25% decline. we had a guest list of 220 and ended up with 167 (thats about a 25% decline)
