I realise this is an odd question, and difficult to determine but I was wondering approximately how many hairs on your head you lose each day? I lost a lot of hair due to auto-immune thyroid disease, but now that it’s under control I’m trying to work out what’s normal and what’s not. It’s been so long since I can remember what normal hair loss was like. For example, at the end of the day if I take my hair down from a pony tail I would typically lose 10-15 hairs and a similar amount in the shower? Maybe I’m just prone to shedding like a yeti.

Haha, that’s about how much I lose too. I lose quite a bit of my hair in the shower, especially if I had it pulled back before taking a shower. If you’re losing less than you used to then its probably okay. I think its only when you start noticing that you’re losing more that you have a problem (for a while I was losing more than usual and I realized it was stress related, but I’m back to normal now!)

I have no idea what’s normal, but I shed like crazy. Theres always a huge chunk in the shower after washing my hair and theres probably another 50-100 laying on the bathroom floor when i’m finished blow drying it. I also notice a few pieces every time I run my fingers through my hair.

A normal, healthy human will shed about 50-100 hairs a day.

My brush is always discusting. I clean it all the time, but I lose a ton of hair when I brush it after a shower. That’s brushing with detangler/leave in conditioner, and brushing carefully.
But yeah, 10-15 sounds about right. Light actually for me, but I’m pretty sure I was a wookie in a past life.
